Hi everyone, first time around here, even though i've been reading you since a long time. First of all i have to apologize in advance if you find anything wrong or weird about my grammar but it's not my first language and i'm not certainly sure about my skills. Anyway, having said that, i'm bringing to all you my friends a journal of my first (and current) grow project, wich i've been working since a pair of weeks ago. It's a double chamber originally thought to be a perpetual grow, but since it's the very first one i decided starting with Autos. I wasn't too sure at first doing the journal, so the record starts since now, day 12, one day after moving the seedlings to the pots.
The illumination it's a DIY Led, that has been developed by an electric engineering studend friend. We've made some advances trying to define some aproximated units for it, but we keep striving with the missinformation of the fabricant and our lack of instruments, so we are a little bit running blind on this respect.

Well, let's go to the important:

Seeds: 15 seeds "Critical Bud Autoflowering", from a local bank so-called "Kundala Seeds". I bought them from a moderately well-known growshop, lured by the genetic, but mostly by the low cost (around 70 usd for all). I wasn't able to find ay reference abuout this bank on internet but a pair of growshops that sells their seeds. The description on the package claims that the strain is a crossig between a "Critical" and a "Big Bud", 60% Indica, 15% Sativa and 20% Rudelaris. The average high, 90 to 120 cm, flowering between 40 to 55 days, a "high production", high THC, and low CBD.

I can translate the rest, but it's just advertising for me, tell me if you're still interested.

DIY Led system. As i told you i'm not deeply involved on this part of the project, i have to make more investigation. Even though, here is the information that i can give you at first glance:
8 aluminium rows with 6 sets of 3 leds SMD 5730, 12 volts each set, 0.5 watts each light. That give us a total of 144. 4 of the rows contain 72 cold white lights and 4 are natural white, interspersed with each other. The total dimensions are 45x50 cm

I still haven't bought the rest of the stuff of the vegetation chamber, but for now i can say that my decisions on here are depending on how my kids are growing and of course the advices i'll receive. At first glance i think i'll do some kind of LST, like using SCROG, but i'm still a little not well informed on this matter. I'm open to any option, specially those that promise a bigger harvest, hahaha.

Germination:

Day 1-11
: The 15 seeds was submerged on water for 2 days on dark. Later they was put on Jiffys. Finally they was left next to the window recieving natural light for 9 days (It's summer here).

At day 11, the seeds had sprouted very unevenly, so three of them was throw away. At this point i still wasn't feeling very motivated on keeping the journal, so i don't have any record of here. The rest of the seedlings was transplanted to 12 square buckets of 7 liters each. The substrate chosen was a Mills Light Mix, no special treatmen or mixing was done. 12 succesfully germinated seedlings was the optimun programmed, but i would be happy with 10 too. Then i placed them on the tent, putting the samllest on the center where the light is a little bit stronger. They was named and labeled as well at this point.

There's a diference of 45 cm between the fixture and the upper rim of the pots, and the light cycle is setup for a 18/6 (any suggestion here?)

Day 12: The seedlengs was hydrated with 400 cc of clean demineralizated water and then with 400 cc of water mixed with vegetative fertilizer from a local brand called "Wonderland" and the root stimulant "Bcuzz", from Atami, both half of the recomended dose. Each plant recieved 800 cc. On this matter i'm not very sure if this is too little or too much, i've read contradictory opinions, please help!

The only one that is worrying me about a little bit is "Adjective", it's being lagging back on size, let's see how it develops the next days, i'm afraid it could be covered by the rest when i move it to the other tent. opinions?

In a day or two i'll buy a ph-meter and the next irrigation wil be controlled. I don't think i'm looking at the electroconductivity i'm running low on budget, but i'm not pretty sure about the importance of this. The temperature has been variating between 22 and 26 C°, and the humidity between 40 and 60%, i've been trying to keep it high sprying water inside but it doesn't seems to make too much difference, should i buy an humidifier??. I don't know if i'm missing something, i think that's all for now guys. I'll be waiting cheerfully for your comentaries, suggestions or questions, anything is welcomed.

Thanks for reading!

dont worry your english is great.very neat looking set up.
a soil grower dont need ec/ppm pen, just a ph is good.40%-60% is fine.
lots of guys here doing diy leds builds so plenty of help to be found.
looking real good
best of luck.

Hey nice setup and do not worry at this young stage . Adjective will grow out of the weirdness. You are gonna have your hands full. Happy growing.

For easy LST, stay away from SCROG your first couple grows. I would recommend reading a LST guide, there is a great one here on AFN and invest in some long pipe cleaners. Take a small drill and put holes in the top of your containers all the way around...lots of em. Use holes with said pipe cleaners for bondage. A super easy way to LST is just bend that bitch sideways towards the edge of the lip of the container....keep tying it down sideways right around the whole circumference. Like a loop. Trim unwanted downward growth and pull the vertical new growth back outwards towards the edge. Like a bouquet of flowers. Lollipop those when the time is right and you will be well on your way to success. Very organized looking, you will definitely learn from your mistakes and see what's up with quickly with that level of devotion. It's really not that hard. Use good genetics. Great lights, I personally am IN LOVE with my COBs, common sense and a bit of patience and things will work out fine. I also would like to add, that a cheap Amazon RO filter is where it's at for good water. Just by being your level of interest, an RO filter will be something you will appreciate, because it allows TOTAL control of your water. And they are like $25 for a totally decent little hobby grade 50 gallon per day unit. Welcome to the party bro. Some good peeps on this forum for sure...friendliest forum in the land. Good luck.

Thank you very much for replying, i'll keep your advices on mind. I thought that scrog was easier than others LST, i actually bought a specially designed net. What could be the complications i can get if i do it? As an inexpert, i was thinking on scrog to optimize as much as possible the space covered on the flowering chamber (1x2x1 mt), wich in this case, and depending on how the plants grow and if they exceed the capacity of the vegetative chamber (90x60 cm), can also be used for veg at some point because there is nothing in there for now. You wouldn't reccomend Scrog because is too complicated, not proper for autos, or because LST is better?
Cheers bro

Wouldn't recommend scrog because the plant becomes immovable. They get so twisted up in there sometimes you have to cut em out.....which isn't a bad thing. Lemme show ya what I mean with a couple pictures.

These plants have all had the ring around the rosey treatment. They are not unmanageable.....they are still 100% mobile, and look at that cola...lol. These pics are all from in the past month by the way. I can show u some more if you'd like. I am about to start doing my plants like this 100% of the time.

By the way, that's GWK from Mephisto and Blue Mazaar from Dutch Passion, both Autoflowers grow under lots of COBs by my boy
