Depending on the strain you will start to notice a small odor around the 5th or 6th week and it will get stronger until you harvest, about 5 or 6 weeks later. A carbon filter isn't that expensive. Here you can get a 4" one for around $60 US.

huhhhh. i read again my whole topick. the conclusion:
-need T5 Ho Lighting. includeing 6X54W cool white bulbs. I find something like this: http://www.ecat.lighting.philips.com/l/catalog/catalog.jsp?userLanguage=hu&userCountry=hu&catalogType=LP_PROF_ATG&_dyncharset=UTF-8&categoryid=LP_CF_TL5HO8_EU_FA_HU_LP_PROF_ATG&productid=927929084055_EU_HU_LP_PROF_ATG&title=MASTER%20TL5%20HO%2054W/840%201SL&ctn=927929084055_EU
What is your opinion, its good for me? pls help me fix this thing. i told a read many quide, and advice in these topic, but i read mutch more about HPS, MH, CHM lighting, couse i read somewhere the LED & HO is not the best way. I changed my mind, but a dont realy know anything about that lighting. i want to see clear. if i understand well ripster say dont mix the lighting, (coolwhite, daywhite, warmwight) couse he 1-2 times choose this way and it failed. he say try from the beggining to the end vith veg. (CFL) ? can someone advice me an ideal set? Or tell me some parameter's of the bulbs i need?
As i see, this lighting system (6X54W in my mind right now) maybe cheeper than 1X400W HPS, it makes mutch less warm than HPS (good for me mey little box), and it consume lower electrycs.
And one more. I need to change my box size. As I see the bulbs what i need is medium size, but the lots of bulbs are 114cm. a have 120, to fix the luminaire. thats why i think a change the size to 70X130X110 (cm). I want to build my box TODAY!!! (at first just the freme, sides, wholes, ) I want to build it, to see, how many space i have, whitch cable locaton is de ideal, and things like that.... but if i build i dont want to fall in a mistace, and my materials are finie. I'm really excited :P

I understand that reading so much information can be confusing. Let me summarize a little and see if that doesn't help.

HPS - Not overly expensive but generate a lot of heat. Also require more vertical room. The fixtures are bigger and require more distance between the plants and the light. Minimum height for you box would need to be at least 50" but 72" would be best. More expensive to run.

T5 - Reasonably priced and a lot less heat that HPS. The fixtures are longer and wider but not as high and can be placed closer to the plants. Would work in a 43" high box but 48" would be better. Less expensive to run than HPS.

LED - More expensive to buy but do not require bulb replacement like HPS or T5. Also less expensive to run. Require more distance between the light and plant than T5, about 2' in veg and 1' in flower. Minimum box height should be 60" but again, 72" would be best.

Again, I can't stress enough the need for a carbon filter. Even if you do not install one now you should leave room so you can add one in the future.

Great summery on light choice muddy, and I have to agree you must have a fan/carbon filter.I also have a small grow space Newhope and iv got a cheap 4" fan/filter and it works a treat..t5 or LED would be better IMO as it eliminates the temp probs and also cheaper to run.either way iv seen good grows with both

but one more question :P
when you advice T5 and veg. bulbs you mean example like this: T5-HO-54W G5 230V 4000K 5100 lum ?and you told veg bulbs. it means coolwhite? or mixed warm and cool?
if its right you think 6 enought in my box?
NewHope, you got it man. coolwhite. Now this is only my experience with the T5 lighting. Been using it now for 2 years and Love it. As a matter of fact, I'm looking into buying more.
I think for u man, the T5 HO 6 Bulb fixture will be perfect. Let me know what you end up getting...and good luck

TY Guys, i think i got it. i measuring the space again. The max i can get is 70/65 X 130 X 115/120 cm. I thing I'm doing this way.
and i a see i save money with lighting (use T5, not HPS) and i invest this for a carbon filter.
i think will make a blog, from the begining to the end with pics. May i write it here or have special topic?
i hope i can upload pics about my box today :P

I use a lot of CFL (That is the curly florescent bulbs) . The type I use are the 45 watt bright white. Sometimes they are refeerred to as a 200 watt incadesent replacement. I like em they are cooler than HPS, don't burn the plants. They are not so expensive to buy and are gauranteed for 7 years just keep your store receipt and the scan strip off the box they come in.

Just wanted to add them to Muddy's list as another alternative.

as i read it a face with another problem :(
my idea is 2 12cm PC fan the top to out the air.
but if i must use a carbon filter, i need 2 of them!! :(
or i can resolved a problem with 1 bigger fan than 12cm PC ?
a 12cm PC fan is able to use with carbon filter? have it got enought power to push the air out?
i'm not greedy, i dont want to save money in the important things like light, seed, substrate..... but i think the carbon is a secondary important thing for me. i wanna do it in cheap way.
I see a combo in the webshop in the our town grownshop.
Duct fan 125 VKOk 39 dBA : 185 m3/h 125mm 34 euro. + carbon filter 125 mm / 25 cm; 100 m3
but a fear it will bee realy loud :(
if i choose this way (dutc vent + carbon) take it to the top of the box in the middle i think.

A proper fan/filter will work alot better than PC fans mate, I run a vents tt fan in my grow space,I have it set up in my kitchen and it just sounds like my boiler is on and surprisingly quiet,my fan runs at 2 speeds and I have it on the lowest, its 28 decibels and the main noise I get is the air passing thro the ducts but I'm gonna order some acoustic ducting to sort that out.
