Last year was one of the hottest summers on record. I doubt this summer will get this hot. Besides, this is Texas man, there is not a damn thing a fan can do to combat the heat. The plants will need to learn to survive in the heat. Dont worry about my roots drying up. Believe me, I have the opposite problem.

I get no love on this site, lol.

Very minor update. Both plants were pretty root bound. I let them stay in the 20 oz. cup for about 2-3 weeks and the roots were definately circling at the bottom.

I put the Pakistan Ryder in her permanent 5 gallon pot. I was very careful not to disturb the roots. I transplanted yesterday evening and I have had new growth already! She is definately female and is starting to throw out her pistols everywhere. But, she is definately either a runt or stunted by my mistakes standing at abut 4 inches tall. Looks very healthy though! Oh well...first grow, I am learning right/wrong. Ill be happy if she yields an 8th, lol.

I put the Strawberry Blue in a 3 gallon pot to let her veg for a couple of months. She is still tiny as hell. I have no idea why she is growing so slow. pH is good, never over/underwatered...does anybody have advice? She is growing, looks super healthy but reallllly slow.

I do have 1 more Strawberry blue seedling and Pakistan Ryder seedling on my window sill, but my camrera battery died again, next time...

Pakistan Ryder @ Day 19: She is stinkyyyyy, smells like skunky funk with a hint of mint!!

Strawberry Blue @Day 14: She is alive but growing slow still. Still hoping she wakes up since she has a new home.

I also am using 2 different soil blends for the rest of my grow. For autoflowers and vegitative growth I am using:

lb_vortex.gif

Contains:
-5 kinds of compost
-rice hulls
-Texas granite sands
-perlite
-hadite
-humates
-BioZome for microbial activity

I went ahead and ammended it with:
-1/4 cup Alfalfa Meal
-1/4 cup Kelp Meal
-1/4 cup Greensand

My plants and I are loving this mix right now.

For my Organic flowering mix, I will be using (if I ever get there) this:

-1 bag Roots Organic potting soil 0.75 cubic ft. (only size left and last bag)
-1 bag Roots Organic Bigworms Earthworm Casting 1 cubic ft.
-1 bag Fox Farms Ocean Forest 1.5 cubic ft.
-1 bag Fox Farms Light Warrior 1.5 cubic ft.
-1 bag of Lady Bug Organic Potting Soil (1.5 cubic ft.)
-Sunleaves Mexican Bat Guano 10-2-1 (1/2 cup)
-Sunleaves Peruvian Seabird Guano 10-10-2 (1/2 cup)
-Sunleaves Jamacian Bat Guano 1-10-0.2 (1/2 cup)
-Sunleaves Indonesian Bat Guano 0.5-12-0.2 (1/2 cup)
-Botanicare ZHO Rhizosphere Root Inoculator (1 oz.)
-Xtreme Gardening Mykos Spores (3.5 oz.)
-2 cups of Alfalfa Meal
-2 cups of Kelp Meal
-2 cups of Green Sand
-2 cups of Garden Lime
-2 big ass bags of perlite

This has so many goodies and I will never need to fertilize. Just add water. Also, I only use rainwater to feed my plants.

Sorry for long post, hope some people can let me know how I am doing!

hi Alter

What can I say ?? your pk rider looks good and wery healthy but it's a little bit tiny,my pk rider is 23 days old and at least 1/2 bigger . I tried LST on her and it works awesome :D .. so I recommend LST to you!
In the other hand I use simple universal potting soil and a 'universal nutrition - gain fast 10lbs plastic pot' lol. Until now I used only 1 x 125w cfl/2700k and right now I got a 150w hps and one more 125w cfl/6400k too .. I think that my pk rider will love this combo :hump: .. forgot to say I have a little 9days old og kush too. Light cycle is 18/6 and I feed her with universal(generic) high nitrogen nute (NPK 7-3-5) till day 30 -32 . After that I will use Big Bud powder till the last two weeks of flowering and after that only plain water. So this is my plan going on :)
If you want I can put some pics up ..

All the best to you and keep your faith!

Yeah, Its my own fault she it so small. I left her for too long in the 20 ounce cup...she got root bound and stunted growth considerably...oh well, its ok, I have a another Paki ryder and SB germed and I am outting the next paki ryder in a 10 gallon pot this weekend.

This is my first grow, I will make mistakes. I can live with myself as long as I learn and get better over time.

Howdy, neighbor.
Sorry, just found your thread. Subbing up.
Idk how you will pull this off with temps consistently over 90, but I'm in for the ride. Maybe the girls will build a tolerance, but I would bet that they take more attention outside than inside here. Especially the next 2 months.
Small tip...water them with ice in June and July. Maybe use old plastic food containers to make the ph'd ice. It'll cool the roots a bit and give them a slow feed, instead of it just running off.
Best of luck and karma to ya!

Alter,
I had big problems with my auto's in Lady Bug Vortex soil.
Photos seem to do OK in it, and I have some photo growers that swear by it, but was very problematic with the autos on several attempts with different strains all stunting badly.
You might pm Muddy, and ask that this thread get moved to the new growers forum as your more likely to get some more pointed advice there.
Good luck with the heat, the issue will not be how hot the ambient temp is, but how hot the soil around the roots is. If they are outside, I would put the container in the ground, the ground will stay much cooler than your container could stay above ground.

Paki ryder is a good choice for ya first grow....worthy weed. WOS has some good genetics in their strains and paki is my fav of their autos. Can't compare to your outside evironment as I only grow inside in a temp/rh contolled area...heat is a concern ...just hope ya have a breeze around ya babes...
Have patience....weed is tough and will definitely handle a drought much easier than a flood.

Thanks for the support man! I use rain water for watering but the ice trick is cool! Only thing I am wondering is if the ice would shock the roots since the drastic temp change? I know all about the root heat versus ambient heat. I have a pretty good handle on that so far. Thanks for the tips!

Hey! I have not had any problems with the soil so far...plants look healthy as can be. My plants were already short to begin with since I let them get root bund and was too slow to transplant. I am about to PM Muddy right now about moving this thread. Thanks!

I followed your first grow quietly in the shadows. I hope I can achieve half the success as you did. So far the plants are loving the heat so we will see what happens!
