New Grower First Grow - Northern Lights/Pineapple Express/Sweet Tooth (Autos)

The top. I also take back my earlier comment. I was testing it with my tent open so the air was pretty cool. When I locked it up the exhaust got a little warmer. I actually think my setup is helping a little bit more now too. I turned 2 23w CFLS on with my led and the temp at canopy level was 82f. When I moved the thermometer to the corner where I use to have it the temp was @ 81. I think my setup dropped me down a good 2 degrees with the added cfls.

Can't complain about that. I guess I will leave the cfls on now though I'm not sure if I even need them at this point tbh.

lol I don't know WTF, but I turned off my little fan that sits outside of my tent that blows air into the bottom vent and my temp dropped another degree at the canopy level. Some how 100% passive intake is better? seems weird to me but I'll take it! Maybe I'll add it back to the inside of the tent or something.

81f is definitely good enough for me.

I made so many incorrect assumptions during the front end of my first grow, it's obvious from the number of times my game plan changes in my journal. That's why this site is so important. It's information that dispels the anxiety. That, and feeling comfortable with your methods for attributing validity to that information. I feel like the first grow is specifically meant to be troublesome and pose problems, that's how we learn the best. The REACTION to those problems is a training process as well. It teaches us not to overreact or to react with too drastic of a change. I've been calling this "thinking on plant time"...when we think on social/human time, we want to enact change immediately and we want to see results immediately. Plants don't operate at that pace, so we end up overreacting and causing more problems. If we come up with a game plan for a correction then institute it in small increments so that we may observe what that correction is effecting, we are starting to think in "plant time"....at least that's my approach :)

That's some deep thinking right there. Must've fired up a phatty of some John Blaze shit before sitting down n typing that out!

To be fair, it's my first auto grow, and my first professional genetics, real grow lights, etc. grow. I'd only ever used bag seed and whatever fluorescent I had laying around, and ultimately grew ugly, sick, sad monstrosities.

I can't tell! Your game seems to be trump tight, Medi. If my first grow turns out half as good as your first grow, I'll take it with a Coke and a smile!

lol freaking 79f in the tent right now at canopy level. Freaking crazy, I love my new fan! Totally wish I could go back in time and not buy that freaking duct booster.

Looks like you're off to a good start with the lst. I watched a ton of YouTube vids and read loads of how tos. It baffled me if I'm honest.

In the end I just got stuck in and tried it. I found by watching my girl respond to the lst gave me a much better idea as to how to progress. Just keep at it. If you don't think you've been her far enough, give her 12 hours and do it again.

I probably adjusted for about 10 days until I was happy and then let her do her own thing.

I even snapped a stem. I used some electrical tape to repair it. She bounced back in a day and now has a huge bud on it.

Don't be afraid to make mistakes!

That's some damn good advice right there, it's as important as not freaking out and acting rashly to not be paralyzed by fear. I know it sounds silly but you'll start to develop an open line of communication with your ladies and if you listen carefully and act wisely you'll understand what they're trying to tell you most of the time. Growing is a very organic process, it's a partnership between the plants and the grower, the more closely bonded the two are the better the result.

Freiya, I bet your change in temp is related to creating positive pressure in your grow space which in turn accelerated exhaust and intake. Sometimes trying to help speed things along can have the opposite effect.

The lst that you are doing, is it prep work for scrogging?

Nah not doing any scrog'n this time. I think I'm going to try it for my next grow though. LST is an alternative to scrog'n though I doubt it works as well.

I see your temps were originally at 84-86°, but now sit at 79°. Was the main reason for the temp drop passive intake?
