New Grower First Grow - GCS Bubble Gum and Cheese

That looks gorgeous @Jc420bigbud Bubbles' still got a ways to go before she's there. I snuck down before lights out to check on them, and they've both broken out.

Bubbles is a leggy little girl, and it looks like I'll have to try and pop the seed casing for her:

Mayor McCheese, is looking a little more typical from what I'm seeing on other grow journals:

Both of them look a healthy shade of green to my untrained eye.

:woohoo: :clapper: ppp

Hi Tina! I've got exactly zero experience with growing anything. Well, I take that back, when I was a teenager I tried to grow with some bag seed, but never got past the germination in a paper towel stage. I also vaguely remember growing some marigolds as a class project when I was somewhere around 7  ! Needless to say, I don't consider myself much of a green thumb!

The girls seem to be doing well, I piled some soil around Bubbles Saturday evening and watered both of them, when I checked on them Sunday morning, she shot back up to about the same length as she was before I mounded up the soil. I also had to water them again at the point, since the soil had started drying. I've been watering in a ring around the imaginary canopy line and just misting the soil with a spray bottle. When I did my evening check-in, Cheeses' stem had started to stretch out as well, so I decided to drop the lights a few inches. They were both dry again a little heavier since they don't seem to have a problem sucking it up. I want to keep them on a 24h watering schedule as much as possible since it's hard to get into the basement without waking the kids up on my workdays. I'll try to get some new pics today to show you all how they're doing, although there's really not much visible difference from the above shots (Other then me removing the seed casing on Bubbles) since most of the action is going on below the surface.

Well, I kinda slacked on the updates yesterday, so here are some from day 4, these were for the Mars Hydro contest (Shameless self promotion.. go like my pics, I need a better light, lol).

Here's Mayor McCheese (how many people here get the reference?)

And Bubbles:

On to today, Day 5. Bubbles is not doing a whole lot, but I'm assuming most of the work is going on below the surface:

The Mayor's being a bit more of a go getter, I can see the next set of leaves starting to come out:

So pretty much slow and steady. Their color is looking good to my eye, and they're drinking very well I gave them both another couple of ounces of pH'd water this evening.

Big day, today marks day 7, so the girls have been a week above ground :woohoo:
They're both popping the next set of leaves (first true leaves, or would those be the second?). The look healthy to me, but to be honest they seem a bit on the small side compared to other journals at this age. Part of that is likely due to a couple of factors. First I know my lights are subpar. Second climate isn't ideal, I cant seem to get temp much above 73°F although humidity is in check in the high 50s low 60s. I also think I've been so paranoid about overwatering that I swung the other way, as the pots are both pretty light when i feed them each evening. I'm ramping up the watering slowly and keeping tabs on it, and I'm sure I'll find the groove.

Now, all that said, I'm not feeling discouraged at all. I personally think they look like they're doing well and seem happy. Let me know what you think.

First up is Bubbles, who seems a little further behind. This might be because GCS gives it a seed to harvest range 10 days longer then the Cheese (60-70 as opposed to 50-60, and yes I know both numbers are bullshit), so it would stand to reason that the mayor would develop quicker.

On to the mayor, who seems to be a little more active.

If you guy's see anything I'm missing that might be hurting the girls, let me know. Other then that, I'm just gonna keep on keeping on. I think I'll start adding in some nutes (1/4 strength MC) early next week and see how the like that.

So I ordered a moisture/ph/lighting soil probe on amazon, and it got here this afternoon, so i checked the moisture level on both plants. The both indicated at level two, and i watered both of them at 7 last night. So as I suspected it looks like I'm under watering them.

I mixed up a gallon of MC at 1.25g/G, pH'd to 6.5, and gave them both 4 oz, while I cleaned the tent and will check the moisture and light when the lights come on at 4, the probably add another 4 oz of water. I'd like to stick with one watering a day, since it's a pain sneaking into the basement before work without waking the kids.

I did notice a tiny amount of droop on one of the Mayor's leaves, so that kinda backs up my theory on under watering.

OK, so maybe it's just the new grower in me looking for problems, but I checked on the girls and it looks like I may be getting some clawing going on. It seems worse on Bubbles, but the Mayor's showing a little as well.

I've done some reading, and it looks like curling up can be caused by overwatering or over fertilizing, however I only did my first feed 4 hours ago. High temps can also cause this, but I'm working hard just to maintain 73° so I don't think that's the issue. RH is ranging between 58 and 62%. I'm still leaning towards underwatering, as you can see from the shots, I'm still in the red zone on that. Here's some pics. Bubbles first

By the way, the white spots on the first leaves are from DE that flew up and landed on the leaves when I was watering with a spray bottle last week.

So what's the consensus? Too much water, not enough water, too much nutes, not enough, or just a paranoid new grower looking for problems that don't exist?

I'll just tag a couple of folks here @Master_gRoshi @Jc420bigbud @420Forever any ideas?
