New Grower First Grow - GCS Bubble Gum and Cheese

probes, poke ya finger as deep as a can,is the soil stuck to the end.lots of ways to gauge when a pot needs watered/fed.
i found that getting a spare pot, filling it with dry soil and just leaving it sat in the corner or room.picking it(dry pot) up and down each day, along with the plants i soon got a feel for heavy v light pot  a litre/1000ml of water weights 1kg.
the sad thing about ph pens/probes is and i found out the hard way is they need calibrating fluids, cleaning fluids, storage fluids.and its very much a price range thing less than £50 and the reliability/accuracy is iffy.
:pighug:

Quick update for day 11. The seem to be recovering fro the high pH issues. I decided to give them a light watering since the top portion of soil was measuring dry, although at the bottom it was still in the lower end of green. I didn't want them drying out before I get home from work tomorrow.

They're definitely throwing out new growth nicely, and it's nice to finally start seeing some 3 fingered leaves, I can finally see what I'm growing, lol.

I couldn't help but try lightly rubbing one of the leaves and taking a sniff, god I've missed that smell, they're going to be some stinkers in a month or so! Interestingly, even this early they have decidedly different odors. The bubble gum is a little more herbal, almost cilantro like, whereas cheese has a more skunky/earthy scent that I really associate with weed.

Visually the don't even look like the same plant, with Bubbles being way taller and spreading out more, while The Mayor is short and bushy. Bubbles is definitely going to need LST or she'll probably hit the lights. I'm guessing that's the difference between indica dominant and sativa dominant.

Anyways, here's some pics:

looking good  yep sativa tall, slender with skinny fingered leaves.indica short n squat with fat fingers :coffee:
keep er lit

Yep, that's what I've been reading, I was just surprised they showed that much difference. According to GCS, the bubble gum is 50/40/10 sativa/indica/ruderalis while the Cheese is 50/30/20.

However I just looked closer and that's indica/sativa/ruderalis. So yeah, I guess the Bubble Gum is way more sativa leaning. Ya know, they really ought to keep the order consistent, I thought both these strains were indica dominant. Not that I'm complaining, variety is the spice of life!

I thought both these strains were indica dominant.

as far as i know, cheeze is def indica dom, whilst bg is more of a middle-o-the-road hybrid with slight indica leaningz  ppp

Well, time for a premature 2 week update. Today is actually day 13, but I hot a new toy, so had to snap some pics.

As I've mentioned before, my lighting is woefully inadequate, so a new light has been a want for a while. Well last Saturday I was SWI (shopping while intoxicated) and ended up buying a MarsHydro TS600. Well it came in, so of course I had to set it up. Here's a before and after:

Since the soil was drying up, I decided to give them a feeding with 1g per gallon of MC, just to see how the like it.

They seem to be picking up some speed in growing up, The Mayor is still a little runny, but being indica dominant that's probably to be expected. I think the increase in lighting along with getting the pH sorted we'll probably see some good growth moving forward.

The clawing seems to be going down, and is not apparent on the new growth, I did notice some twisting/tacoing of the first leaves on The Mayor, I've seen this in some other journals, and given that it's on the first leaves, I don't think it's something to stress over at this point.

Here's a couple pics, one thing I noticed is Bubbles is starting to add a bit of aroma to the tent, nothing dramatic, but I was really expecting any real odor until the were in flower. Definitely a happy thing, but my wife keeps going down to the basement to take a whiff
