New Grower First grow ever

That's unfortunate. I tried Amamzon.fr as well and all I got were NEEM and d-limonine products. Spinosad must not be EU registered.
Ditto, it seems, in Canada. Pyrethrin based sprays seem to be the alternative here, but I have not tried them. I am dealing with the evil little buggers too, so far ~3-4 per day in my 4x4. I am watering with mosquito dunks treated water and have lots of stickie traps out. So far, they do not seem to be increasing much, so maybe the traps and Dunks are keeping a lid on it.

Good luck with it. :pighug:

@blue Here in south France humidity and temps can be very different, sometime within the same day !
I can't see myself not monitoring the environment in these conditions... but I'm envious when you say that the humidity runs at 30-40% !
Here it's more 70-80% :eek1:
So I had to purchase a dehumidifier, which I ran outside the tent (the room is quite small too, so it's working ok).
My levels were good for germ and veg, but it's very difficult to get to 30-40%.
Right now lights on it's 78°F and 51%, which I think is fine...

Also It's not possible for me right now to get down to 70F light off... or I'll have to buy an AC to cool the room down...
Next grow I'll run it in winter, because I think it's easier to warm up than cooling down.

I agree with the idea of keeping things simple ; I will aim to that in the future.
Thanks so much for the input.

Oh and I love the autopot concept !
Had no idea this existed before you talk about it... very attractive concept, and I can see the end of gnats with this kind of system (I can see myself installing a kind of "felt" on top on the soil, so that the buggers won't lay eggs.
No more watering from above ; wow !
If you are going with Autopots, you might want to have a look at the sticky on troubleshooting them. Understanding exactly how they are supposed to work can be helpful. They work a treat, but do have a tendency to result in nute buildup or imbalance later in salt based grows, which is why I am trying them with living soil this time around, with thanks to @pop22 for inspiration and help.

The sticky is here:

Troubleshooting the Autovalve | The Autoflower Network

I have only used them with the large fabric pots supplied by Autopot, or with 10 gallon fabric pots in DIY trays because the 10 gallon pots are too big for any of the available Autopot trays. Both seem to work perfectly as far as the level of moisture in the medium is concerned.

Good luck with it.

Hi !

A little update of my small garden, as it seems that some harvesting is on the move...
But I need some help here, because you know, first grow = first harvest lol

I took the pictures with a smartphone microscope, very hard, almost impossible to stay still !
I'll try tonight with the phone on a stand, results should be better.

Here's the royal dwarf auto - I can see that some trichomes are amber, but only on some of the buds... on other flowers the trichomes are quite clear.
This will complicate things about drying... I'll have to label who is drying...

This one is on a different flower, same plant :

On this sugar leaf all trichomes are clear :

Here's the whole flower :

I also took some picture of the amnesia haze auto, obviously she's not ready yet :

I'm supposed to harvest the royal dwarf 9 weeks after germ, that is on november 3rd.
Should I wait until then, or should I chop the one bud that seems ready ?

As for the haze she's scheduled at 11 weeks after germ, that is on november 17th

The other two are way back their scheduled flowering plan, but hey, we have all the time we want, right ?

tip #1 -> breeder estimatez only apply to plantz grown at area 51...i.e. non-applicable to thoze of us that live in the real world  :rolleyes2: tip #2 -> the amber ur lookin for will be on the budz themselvez, not the sugar leavez ;) tip #3 -> often timez, the upperz mature faster than the lowerz & a staggered harvest becomez the order of the day ;) tip #4 -> i'm gettin me coat now...:coffee: ppp

Tip #1 : Haha ok !!

Tip #2 : the bud themselves, that has to be the pistils then ? But they are completely amber... I'll look more precisely tonight when the lights will be on.

Tip #3 : Oh so it's ok to chop only some branches, this will not harm the plant, I mean will do no harm to other branches, and the whole plant ?
That is good to know ^^

Tip #4 : Have a good one !

But I need some help here, because you know, first grow = first harvest lol

Should I watch out for the leaves on the buds ?
On the royal dwarf all the leaves show no sign of wilt at all.

I understand that I must monitor the trichomes, but not on the sugar leaves apparently. But where ? Only other place is on the pistils, and they are quite all very amber... there's something I don't understand.
Maybe someone could point me to a thread about this ?
Thanks !

I had a problem with fungus gnats last summer. I got some playground sand and put about an inch layer over the entire pot. They were completely gone in a week or so. Of course, nothing comes without side effects. Harvested buds had sand all over them and it's impossible to wash off completely.

This was outside in a windy climate. It probably wouldn't be as bad inside.

I had the same problem !
After reading the great post about fungus gnat by @arty zan, I decided to try some techniques.
For me, neem oil + yellow sticky tabs all over the tent did the job. I also added some millions of nematodes.
Since then I occasionally kill one or two at the opening of the tent.
Today, a ladybug entered my living room. I thought "hey gorgeous, do you like hunting F. gnats ?"
After a search on the internet, I learned that yes, they hunt them ^^
So I invited her in the tent lol

Hopefully she will lay eggs, the Ladybird larva are absolute bug killing machines!

#2 -> i'm talkin about amber trichomez, not pistilz....pistilz = hairz & they're not what ur lookin for :nono: the trichomez themselvez turn from clear to cloudy, then amber as they fully mature....and this then becomez purely a matter of grower preference, as to when to harvest...there'z a lotta diff factorz at play, but the loose rule o' thumb is that the more cloudy-to-amber u let em go, the more body high/couck lock u'll get...but again, that'z a very loose rule, lol :rolleyes2: i meself alwayz let em get to around 30% amber if possible before choppin...but then again, some strainz seem to almost never go amber, lol  if u don't already have one, u'll need to get a jeweler'z loupe or other magnifying meanz to check the trichz, becuz -> it'z all about the trichz! :shooty: :headbang: ppp
