New Grower First grow ever

I just read through the autoPot website... wow that's a thing !
I like it so far, may try it after this grow :greenthumb:

@CannabisMingus There IS a kind of fabric pot available ^^
Yes - they used to offer Smartpots (IIRC) and now a different brand.

@blue When you have some time could you share how you deal with T° and HR ? What are in your experience the best levels ?
I could deal with these by referring to VPD charts no problem, and I got help too, I'm just curious to learn how successful growers manage constants.

Hey again ^_^ You mean the temps and humidity.

I'll be honest, i'm a loft grower and I came to realise some time ago that there are factors which are out of my control in this kind of setup.
So I used to be a coco grower, and would measure everyhing! The temp, humidity, EC, PH , and it takes a LOT of time.

When i went back to soil in the loft, I threw the meters away. There's not a thermometer, or hygrometer, or PH pen or EC pen ... I freed myself from the shakles of over analysing. (i do have an auto fire extinguisher lol .. just in case .. but that's just being over cautious)

When i did measure the temps etc, my RH was usually low for the whole grow say 30-40%, not ideal for veg .. but pretty good for flowering.

I run a little tube heater at the bottom of my tent along the ONE pot (i'd not recomend more than one even in your 80 x 80 - I think it's a recipe for moldy buds at the end. as there can be SO much foliage)

The important thing for me is keeping airflow, and my extraction is perhaps a bit overkill for the space it's ciruculating, and the fan is pretty big for the space too lol

Here's one in my tent that's just about started flowering (it would easily fill an 80 x80 if i had one >.< )

To answer your questing (eventually lol) .. I think 80f is fine for growing, 85f for germination, and 70f for lights out.
If you are triying to control all the factors - a higher humidity for vegging is good, and for flowering if you can get it down to 30-40% that'd be great. You dont want RH at 70% when it's flowering as mold will easilty grow. (so keep the fam blowing through the plant)

(Ultimately - you don't have to be a scientist to grow nice weed - having a "rough" handle on temps and humidty is generally good enough for the homw grower whos looking after themselves)

Hope this helps

Oh I have a question regarding my next grow : in your opinion what strains are staying small enough to fit my 80x80x180 tent, apart from the dwarf one ?
My criteria are high level of THC, fruity and citrus flavor, fast grow ^^

Thanks
I have always had a 70x70x150 tent- just check strain guides and go for small/medum. I top (following @Autobeast method) and lst. To maximise space i have HLG LED lights and keep my extratctor outside the tent (filter inside clamped to the roof). I do fine like that. My plants grow low and wide. I prefer sativa strains so. need to be careful on which ones i choose. I think topping and LSt` is key for me- but don't be in a hurry to do loads first runs- i learned here that less is more until you get your hand in

@blue Here in south France humidity and temps can be very different, sometime within the same day !
I can't see myself not monitoring the environment in these conditions... but I'm envious when you say that the humidity runs at 30-40% !
Here it's more 70-80% :eek1:
So I had to purchase a dehumidifier, which I ran outside the tent (the room is quite small too, so it's working ok).
My levels were good for germ and veg, but it's very difficult to get to 30-40%.
Right now lights on it's 78°F and 51%, which I think is fine...

Also It's not possible for me right now to get down to 70F light off... or I'll have to buy an AC to cool the room down...
Next grow I'll run it in winter, because I think it's easier to warm up than cooling down.

I agree with the idea of keeping things simple ; I will aim to that in the future.
Thanks so much for the input.

Oh and I love the autopot concept !
Had no idea this existed before you talk about it... very attractive concept, and I can see the end of gnats with this kind of system (I can see myself installing a kind of "felt" on top on the soil, so that the buggers won't lay eggs.
No more watering from above ; wow !

How many plants do you have in your small tent ?
My amnesia gave cold sweat when I watched her streeetched lol
I too will try topping and LST next time ^^

No problem .. and i wouldnt worry too much about the 10f drop in temps for night time - I think that's an "ideal" rather than necessary.
I'd try and get that humidity down for flowering, and make sure threre's loads of airflow and circulation.

Heheh, .... hold on there ^_^ You'll still need to hand water for the first 20 days, or the roots wont get to where they need to be and the plant wont grow!
In my opinion, the first 20 days are the most important anyway, so once you've got the hang of it, the rest of the grow usually goes pretty smoothely.

Aaah !! The little bastards will have plenty of time to settle in my pot !
Well, war is declared anyway, I will sleep in the tent with my electric racket :cool1:

Hi !

A little update of my small garden, as it seems that some harvesting is on the move...
But I need some help here, because you know, first grow = first harvest lol

I took the pictures with a smartphone microscope, very hard, almost impossible to stay still !
I'll try tonight with the phone on a stand, results should be better.

Here's the royal dwarf auto - I can see that some trichomes are amber, but only on some of the buds... on other flowers the trichomes are quite clear.
This will complicate things about drying... I'll have to label who is drying...

This one is on a different flower, same plant :

On this sugar leaf all trichomes are clear :

Here's the whole flower :

I also took some picture of the amnesia haze auto, obviously she's not ready yet :

Here's the garden today :
From down left and clock wise : jack herer auto, AK auto, amnesia haze auto and the dwarf

I'm supposed to harvest the royal dwarf 9 weeks after germ, that is on november 3rd.
Should I wait until then, or should I chop the one bud that seems ready ?

As for the haze she's scheduled at 11 weeks after germ, that is on november 17th

The other two are way back their scheduled flowering plan, but hey, we have all the time we want, right ?
