New Grower First grow(afghan kush ryder, Pakistan ryder) cfl 150w

your doing a great job, smell is going to start in roughly ten days or so, consider filtration if that is an issue due to legality etc.

if you need to it is ok to bend and tie down individual branches to help your penetration and height, or you can avoid this if your not confident yet and can consider adding one or two self supporting desk lamps on the floor ontop of the soil bag at the bottom with some 2700k cfl to provide additional light to compensate for the loss of penetration due to the height.

keep it up all is in check

Barnsie i only have one suggestion at this point - keep on doing what you're doing they look very healthy, can't wait to see how big they get.

When i'm shopping for seeds they say things ilke "medium height", i really don't know what the limits are since i don't have the horizontal space, coz obviously the taller they get the wider they get, i've never grown anything taller than around 50cm.

Update, another week has gone and still no flowers :(

I have got a shot next to a 2ltr bottle of pepsi just to show you how big the afghan kush actually is, I need some info on when she is going to start flowering, the close up of the bud sites is just producing more leaves, the nodes are alternate and iv added some side lighting as you suggested, I'm getting impatient now :fire: the temps are at constant 80f and am feeding twice a week, is there anything I can do to force flower this monster???? :peace:

What's your opinion on my latest update?
I got less than an ounce from the Pak but it was my first grow and she was stunted by some pH problems. Still great potency, though. The AKR yielded almost 3 ounces but that was after I had dialed in my setup and had more experience under my belt. Those two strains are very popular around here so there will be no shortage of advice if you have any issues. Here's my take on things:

That huge container will make things more like outdoor growing than indoor in small pots. Hopefully your pH is dialed in already (around 6.5) because it will be difficult to adjust with that much soil. It also looks quite heavy so beware of drainage problems that have the roots staying too wet. Cannabis tends to be happier on the dry side rather than being in soggy soil.

Lighting is basically a more is better proposition. When I grew CFL I got the best results from vegging with 6500K and then adding a bit of 2700K during flower. But the bottom line is once they're past the seedling stage, get as many watts on the plants as possible, especially with CFL. Add them on the sides and anywhere else you can, getting them as close to the plants as possible. They do generate some heat, so get some fans and be mindful of the temps.

Do you have plans for odor control? Both of these strains put out some serious aroma so you should be looking into carbon filters if you haven't already.

The babies are looking good & it only gets better from here.

What's your opinion on my latest update?

I think the girls look beautiful but are going to keep you jumping in that small space. There's not really anything you can do to force them into flowering at this point. They've got a huge amount of soil so the roots are just filling out and preparing to support a huge flowering plant. My guess is that you'll see preflowering any day now with pistils appearing on the bud sites. But ultimately there's nothing to do but be patient and let nature take its course, hard as it may be. You've mentioned yield many times and my guess is that you'll have a large harvest, but the other side of that coin is that big yields in big pots are going to take longer. Especially with CFL instead of a big LED or HID light in the space. I put mine in smaller pots (3 gallon or smaller) to control the size and get faster harvests & I'm willing to sacrifice some yield in the process. As you do more grows, you'll have to find the balance that works best for your needs.

Keep up the good work!

Thank you, I'm going to do it again now smaller pots on the next run, they are like ving the conditions I suppose it's trial and error but ill be doing the AKR again for sure and might invest in a LED what's the best LED I can get on a tight-ish budget? You have helped a lot for my first time maximum respect Andy and the gang
