New Grower First ever grow, Northern Lights auto. Wish me luck!

sneakypeak! :jump: while jammin to scorpionz, ooh yeah! :headbang: ppp

Day 74: So after posting yesterday I noticed the top couple of leaves were looking bad so I ended up watering around 5L of pH 5.56/2050ppm with 1L (20%) runoff of pH 6.03/2830ppm.

There is plenty of salt build up on the pot now so hoping that the high runoff is partially due to that. The next few waterings include the PK13/14 boost and should be the highest ppms in the whole grow before I lower them again for the home stretch.

Day 74 update: So another 3L of pH 5.56 / 2050 ppm with a 30% (1L) runoff of pH 5.86/3060ppm.

First time the pH runoff has been close to 5.8 so will increase the pH for waterings back up to 5.8 but need to watch that ppm. Noticed another couple of leaves with early signs on leaf damage. Not sure if they were like that before and I didn't see it.

Watching her like a hawk....

Day 75: So a couple of other leaves are showing some early signs of spotting but its not spreading fast at least.

Gave her 3.5 L of pH 6.14/1850ppm with a R/O of 1L at pH 5.89/2940ppm.
:eek1: Wow, that EC is crazy high,... so much so that I have to wonder about it's calibration accuracy,.. I say that because all my info, particularly from some great coco guru's here, say that they run at most 1.8EC (1.0 EC = 500ppm)... that the plant isn't showing major nute burn is a mystery to me,.... hence my concerns about the TDS readings! That said, the run-off is too far over what the input EC as well; whatever the case, I suspect this is starting to cause a lockout of a micronutrient... What's the base ppm with just the Ca-Mg? CANNA is a coco specific nute line, right? might be that it has all the Ca-Mg in it you'll need as is, IF the coco was well buffered (not pH, but CEC) beforehand....
--- symptoms look like B defc., which too much Ca can cause a defc. of,...
Can you check you EC/TDS meter for calibration? there are solution made for this specifically,...

I agree it is crazy high. In part due to watering less frequently, also there is salt buildup on the canvas pot which prob bumps up the run off. I've read that RO will never be that accurate for canna too but I have increased the RO volume to try and flush more of the salt build up out.

It is pre buffered canna coco professional soil (yes CEC).

Using distilled water which starts at around 3-4 ppm. Adding 1ml/L of CalMag takes that up to around 420-480ppm (TDS).

I have an Apera PC60 meter which is calibrated every time I mix a batch of nutes for both pH and conductivity (μS). It is damn near 100% accurate.

I have always used less than the canna feed guide for the rest of the canna nutes. It is possible that they already contain enough CalMag so I can try removing that from additional feeds going forward but up until now, she has shown no ill effects.
Think it could just be the accumulation over time.

Day 76: 4L of pH 6.14/1850ppm with RO of 1.2L pH 5.90/2650ppm. It's coming down but still 800 ppm over what's going in.

A couple more small leaves showing stress (around 8 in all) but it's not spreading rapidly so hopefully cutting out the CalMag and therefore feeding 4-500ppm less on the next batch of nutes should help. Also bringing the pH up a bit to 6.1-6.2 for the next few feeds till I see the RO go above 6 again.

Day 77: another 4L of pH 6.14/1850ppm with 1.5L RO of pH 5.97/2410ppm. Will continue with higher runoff volumes until ppm's are back with 2-400ppm. Hard to tell but don't think there is any more leaf damage or spread on existing leaves. Hope I've caught it early...

Noticing more frosting with each day

Day 78 was a quiet one, no water and no trim.

Day 79 a few more sick leaves so things are still not well with her. It isn't spreading fast or affecting a lot of leaves though but more than I'd like.

Decided to put 10L of pH 6.10/1600ppm through her to flush out some of the salt buildup ..with no 1ml/L calmag added for the first time in the grow.

After around 5L she started RO.

1L was pH 5.63/3340ppm ... yikes!
2L was pH 5.79/2720ppm ... still yikes!
3L was pH 5.84/2370ppm ... still yikes!
4L was pH 5.89/2150ppm ... still yikes!
5L was pH 5.94/1980ppm ... hmm better than the 1st L of RO I guess.

Had to stop there as I'm out of distilled water.

I'll likely repeat the same process again tomorrow until the ppms are back within a few hundred of what's going in.
Overall she's not exactly in bad shape, but having come this far, I don't want to mess up the home stretch...

She's getting frostier and stickier each day and the main cola is getting a little girthier...

mmm, personally, me thinkz she needz a few dozen more bud sitez, but...:coffee: ppp

3300 ppm run off ???
Wow,that's quite high...i think ?

Yup, waaaay too high, so flushing it out over next few waterings to get all that excess out.

from a distance looking pretty damn fine :smokeit: plenty of tops n getting hairy
keep er lit
:pighug:

Yup, not sure how big a lot of the colas will get as they are so densely packed and I suspect theyll be quite a bit of larf ...but I'll find out. :eyebrows:
