I agree with Joe on the ratios! I need to come back down to earth a bit LOL I know these results are not to be expected EVERY single time... However, Again to agree with Sir Dirte as far as I would expect (in my set up and growing environment) at LEAST 50% females... At least. If I didn't get that I would be wondering what's up... Ocean Forest is good... and I did have great germ rates with it as well but the difference between the two is incredibly noticebale.
With that being said I HAVE to also report that the ADDED Myco that I use has a huge hand in my ratios and performance. Since using the Myco there are somethings I must report. The stems on every single seedling that were started with the Myco are incredibly strong... I used to have to keep a fan on my seedlings, not only for good air circulation, but for a non stressful way to strengthen the stem early on... Give a "wind" effect as if they were growing naturally outside. Now my fan is just for air circulation. I have noticed and as soon as I get our camera back I will take pictures of their stem and even the stems of the photos I have that are a few weeks old for reference.
This is my Myco regimen...
1) When they germinate and have a good decent tail I sprinkle some myco in the plug they are going into. About a pinch... Then place the germinated seed in the plug. Then take another pinch of Myco and sprinkle on top. Cover well and water lightly. This is crucial because they Myco will not activate until water hits it. It is an Inoculant.
2) Water seedlings as usual. I typically water very little and lightly everyday until they are above ground. Then I just usually go by the feel of the dirt. It's important to keep the seedlings moist but not over watered because you need to keep the roots searching for water/moisture. That is very important and makes sense to me because if you water properly your plant will thrive... If you over water the plant becomes stunted -- that's just in plain soil -- with added nutes in the soil you risk nute burn and more stunting.
3) If you transplant or tier when you get to the point of doing it -- I prep my bag with the soil and sprinkle a bunch of Myco across the area... Blanket the area with it and water it to activate, place the tiered or transplant in, cover and water it.
4) For the remainder of life I use 1/2 teaspoon of Myco powder in my nute mix or in plain pH'd water (depends on where it falls in my feeding schedule) ONCE a week until the last 2-3 weeks of harvest. Basically cut out the Myco Powder completely for last 2-3 weeks -- depends on when you're harvesting, at what day/week. Make it fit your schedule.
5) Use every time you transplant or tier. If you do this more than once in a grow. I don't, some do so that's why I suggest it. Anytime you give this to your roots they will love it.
It is also an important note that Molasses feeds on Myco. So when you get to the point of using Molasses or any additive that contains it, you will notice the difference in growth immediately. This even shows my my photos that I'm growing. THIS MYCO IS MADNESS!! LOL Now I know why Humboldt Nutrients calls it that!
Really any Myco product should do. I've heard great things about Great White but it's WAAAY more expensive than the HN one I use. That combined with the experience I'm having with it there's no point in fixing a good thing right when I'm on the verge of "Cruise Control" grows. So I'm sure any Myco product will do as long as it contains a fair amount of Myco. However, I do highly recommend the ones that have added Trichoderma and Beneficial Bacteria. Nice little boost.
Again the AA has me yappin' away... So now that I have bored you all to death! LOL I'll close this out. Hope you all are enjoying your weekend! It's cold and rainy here. Fall is here...
