I think doing photo clones is a great idea. Even though it will be a photo grow I hope you will still post it here. I'd really like to follow along.

Ok now back on track...

We know the spectrum is better with LED but it seems the overall light intensitive is still lacking... I wish that seymore would of only run the one light in the thinkdifferent grow like he said he was going to..

I read the math and coverage area for these leds and still a 1000whps covers 5x5 and it seems you would need two lights maybe more ...for a 5x5 area? yes no? how come he is using so much light?

Because he can that's one of the benefits of the leds you are not restricted by heat and I guess he was trying to get the best production possible from the Think different by dp although I think you should ask him yourself on that thread :) I found that both the 250watt hid and the 250watt led both covered 4sq feet well and suspect that both would cover another couple of sq feet easily if contained with good reflective surfaces
the more light the more weight per square foot you just start losing efficiency on your grams per watt used after a point

Personally from what I can see from the pics I think it was tooo much as it discolored the buds that were on top... maybe he will give us a pic of the discolored nuggs to see the difference.

Anyways I'm sold on them lights for tent grows for sure... but I dont have a tent... I got a 12x12 room and I just cant shell out $18,000 for 9 lights...

hhehehehe lol if you have 12x 12 room you can shell out 18,000 for these lights :) athough for 9x 650watt draw feros you would be shelling out for around 9,000 I think
lol you are making me drool..............

hey guys bear with me on this one it starts getting a little complicated
the manufature contacted me and said for the next trial he suggested that I should put the 650 watt led over a 2 meter sq area now for this area normaly I would have 2x 600watt hids
now this makes the trial uneven watt for watt
I want to put 1300 watt of led against 2x 600 HID over 2x1 M NFT trays using 30 plants from the same mother on each seperate tray but they think it is to much
any suggestions welcome on what I should do next ???? maybe 2x 400 watts over 2 sqm against 1x 650 watt led ?

no 2x600w vs. 1300w Led :):):) this is what u should do :):):)

yes i have a accurate meter the draw is as stated. all the manufacturars hype there own product to the extreme. i also have a 3w diode 135watt blackstar it draws 80 to 90 watts it doesnt matter witch manu. they ALL do it. so far despite blackstars hype, i tink it is the best bang for the buck! yes this or that panel may be better, but not at 6, 7, 8 hundred dollars.View attachment 61590

I found that to be true as well for the most part. I own 3 LEDs ..90w UFO 240w Blackstar, and a 800w SolarStorm.

I found the UFO to be about 89 watts on my killawatt. Blackstar like 130-140. Solarstorm 690w. Whats interesting is California Lightworks Solarstorm actually tells you the pull but there pull is less then what I am measuring so kudos to them for being honest.

maybe I should start a new thread Id like to see some input into this question
there are a number of different options for the next trial
I believe and this is only my opinion a equivalent of a 600 watt hps will be around 450 watts of led

The led had the hid at first update no contest smaller spacing and shorter plants clearly says the plants perferred the led and don't bother with 1300watts of led Seymour proved its unnecessary give it up guys led is the new standard.
