Indoor DWC grow - Diesel Ryder (autoflower) Power Kush (photoperiod) day 19

Don't know what's up with your PK. But a little tip I have picked up to battle root rot is to cover the net pot with something. I use 4" net pots and there is only a couple layers of leca before the holes in the cup. Mine was def. Leaking light. Since I have done this I have seen nothing in my Rez.

Thanks for the tip cave dirt. I do see this slime stuff on the bottom of my buckets when i do a res change so that must be a clear indication of some light leak. what are you using to cover them up?

I cut a piece of Mylar cut a hole out and a slit to the edge. My last auto out grew the hole and made the Mylar raise up. I could see the rot on one side of the root system. Light was def. Leaking.

I've got some questions about clones that are posted in the photo section of the forum with no replies. Grasscity wasn't much help either so was wondering if anyone here could help me out.

I have a Power Kush and tonight i plan on taking a clone from her. I've looked up how to do it and what not, got my rooting gel and razor ready, soaked a rockwool cube in ph 5.6 RO water last night with a seedling dose of veg nutes.

So my questions are:

1. After i cut the clone and place it in the rockwool, can i then place it directly in my DWC bucket with hydroton, or do i need to wait to see roots coming out the bottom of the rockwool first? I have a 3.5 gal bucket with an airstone ready to rock and roll.

2. If it is possible to place it directly in bucket, can i just use a plastic cup, mist it with water and place it over the clone as a humidity dome?

3. Can i put the clone on the same lighting schedule i have my power kush already in? I'm planning on taking the cutting tonight around 7, but lights go off at 1 a.m. Is it ok to have a young clone in the dark for 6 hours?

This is my first grow and attempt at cloning so any/all advice is needed.

Clones aren't as big a deal that people make them out to be IMO.

use a clean razor (alcohol rubbed and dried)
cut clone at angle and you can notch the sides you want to root as well
cut back the lower leaves
put on your rooting hormone
put your prepped clone into whatever your using to keep that part moist at all times
high humidity around the plant helps the clone to get a good start maybe a dome or lid over it with frequent misting
in a few days you should have a bonified clone plant or something dead. but should mostly be clone

thanks gearbear. I already know the steps on taking the clone, my questions were more specifially if i can put them directly in my dwc bucket or do i wait for roots to poke out and if they should be exposed to the light right of way. I've read to keep them in the dark for 48 hours to let them do work on roots but thats all the advice i've been given by some newb on grasscity. I'd like those specific questions answered please, i only got room for one more bucket in my tent so i wanna make sure i do it right

Clones are the same with me GearBear, I cut em at an estimated 45 degree angle and I like to notch them as much as I can...
I used to be pretty poor at cloning because I lacked the patience but I guess patients comes with age as I get older I can do much more...
I always use some kind of rooting hormone but old school cats like my dad just cut them and spear them into the ground and get clones...

am i being elusive with my questions? or are they just not relavent? lol im not sure but im about to go on my lunch break and snip the clone. I was hoping to have my questions answered before i cut but my plan is to set the clone up directly in my dwc bucket after i snip it and dip it and ill just put it in the grow tent with a humidity dome over the top, lights on.

If you use plain water and keep the lights on above 12/12 yeah you can stick it straight into the DWC...
Yup, Use the humidity dome cup that'd be perfect...

I was replying to GB's post I didn't see your questions...

Your plan seems sound to me. You will have a modified bubble cloner. You could always put a couple cuts in a glass of water for back up. Cloning is not as hard as you might think. Most of the tech. jargon is to make them root faster. Just make sure you have sufficient mist to penetrate up into the net to keep the cutting moist. Also having nodes down in the medium will help thing along. I think you will have nice clones in a couple weeks.
