Man these earthbox juniors still surprise me!
I didn't see any either15 gal for sure better than 10 and the smaller you go the harder it is maintain ..... Even between the two EB - Original does better than Junior but Junior is no slouch - it holds about 7.5 gallons plus topping and Junior for sure outgrows 10 gallon fabric .....
I was on EB site no red covers for original but junior Red available.
Just be careful cuz less is more with these boxes! U can make your own bokashi and u can use dry amendments like down to earth stuff and add into kashi before baking it to charge it with some nutrients but you’d have to get lil more detailed about this so-called “veggie smoothie” u are asking about adding!I have a Bokashi idea and question.
Can I take a veggie smoothie, made with all sorts of stuff, but I have a few ideas on some different things(cheap and free), and inoculate it with some EM1 and then apply it to the top soil of the EB???
I'd also want to add a particular CHEAP dry grain product that I've used in my lawn to top dress on top of the "Bokashi smoothie" for it's interesting properties.
edit............added the bold

I guess I wasn't super clear on making the smoothie. I won't top water any with this set up. The only water is used, is to make the smoothie blend up. That water would be inoculated with EM1.yes and no .....
Depends on how high you mound soil over top of box .... Just this AM I spray misted my top dressing but that’s a spray not a drink and my compost is way over top of box ..... If you were using a five gallon bucket for example, the top wouldn’t get moist as the lower soil so watering top would be acceptable but EB is much lower and top gets fair amount of moisture ......
My first EarthBox grow I made mistake of watering in a transplant - BIG Mistake - Now I just spray mist hole and drop plant in and spray mist top but lightly ..... That’s it, rest of water comes from the soil .....
Personally I wouldn’t water a half gallon or gallon in from the top ..... If I wanna boost growth, strain smoothie and put strained smoothie in the tank and strained leftovers on top .....
The EarthBox keeps Soil at the perfect moisture level so if you top water soil will be too wet, make sense?
Take note of @TxRebel/Mark comment - less is more with EarthBox ..... I’m adding a little fertilizer to my tank but at 1/5 recommended dosage and of course EM1 and a touch of Vitamin B and some coco - again at less than recommended dosages.

I get ya on straining the smoothie and putting the solution in the water and I know the EM1 will keep things in check. I just don't want to complicate that one environment and have the possibility of it introducing some problem I myself may miss. Just me being me. LOL!
EB question: Would a plastic widow screen set in the bottom, with cutouts for wicking chambers, be helpful in keeping media and worms out of the water?
In this grow, all I'm really doing is raising WORMS.................. the canna is an EXTRA! LOL!
Good info! Yeah, I like experimenting! A LOT! I'm used to doing just that on a MUCH larger scale..........................MUCH more expensive too! LOL!You could experiment putting a piece of screen or landscape fabric - say in the center of dirt tray - that may help in keeping roots from traveling down into reservoir BUT it also might inhibit wicking action - I actually had same thought with landscape cloth, but then I thought back to my first grow and thought why not try to duplicate First EB so I opted not too ..... Being this is your first box, I’m thinking You might wanna just go with known successful grow style - but then I assume you’ll have more than one box - growing is one big experiment - so give it a try in one if doing more than one box .....
With respect to smoothie, whatever ingredients you use are are no concern - Just don’t top water unless dry on top and then I would recommend spay misting for more even distribution - dirt is at least usually wet up the top of box ..... another thing I did - dirt in wicking areas was screened first so as to leave mostly peat remaining ..... Your going to nail this bro, I feel it.
