Salutations Mr True.....
The King declareth that space be assigned to the running of one stand alone individual maintained bubbling bucket unit to allow scientific comparison thereof with the leisurely mans RDWC kit....
What say ye?
Toodle pip
:tiphat:
Dearest King,
Apologies for the late reply, Ive been consumed by my room again and still there are jobs and fine tuning.
I quiet agree sir and think the trial should be set up without delay..
That said this time round as its my first time back in the world of hydro I better focus fully on the Alien Pro.
What buckets do you use?
Anything special or homemade? Im interested in size (number of litres) and amount of air pumped and type of air stone.
Are these the main factors to consider? Anything Ive missed?
I read you use CO2 and really need to get my head round this. My biggest issue is heat with my E-Papilon's. 4 of these produces a fair bit of warmth to deal with. My fans do a great job and I have the room nicely balanced but Im transferring a lot of air in the process. Every time I look at CO2 I realise it will all be lost via my monster fans until I can calm the heat down.
After this grow and If Im feeling up to it I may jump in with a sealed room and use an
Opticlimate.
These marry up great with the new super smart Dimlux lights, co2 controller etc etc. I stopped myself this time round as the costs were getting up there a little.
Also the Opticlimate cools by running water and as such uses loads of it. Its just like leaving a tap running all the time, this is a problem as Im on a water metre.
its not a cost issue but I dont want alarm bells ringing with the local water bods.
I have heard of people setting the opticlimate up with a big water res and pump. So the warm run off water gets dumped into a 1000l tank and aloud to cool, while another tank feeds the opticlimate. Various pumps and float valves later it is doable but Im not sure I need to trauma right now. Like I say, Ive got enough to learn this time round.
Epicness awaits us... Fine assed room true.. Good luck.
Cheers Mr Kush... Any day now and we are go for launch
Ohhhhhh The king hath spoken.
An interesting challenge indeed!
All hail to the king... :Hookah:
You said it Dirtbag, all hail the king of kings
true mate, it might not have been the 18mm ply that knocked out your kind canna helper there bro. He might have thought i will have a quick try of the mans AutoUlti, and within the standard 7 seconds, it layed im out flat, the wind knocked over ply while he was in the Ulti ZZzzz land, dreaming nice thing going on in the room !!........ "like A Vid Of A Burlesque Dancer" commissioned to officially open the room !!.......
Hail canna helper, is he walking straight now True ??........ took me a week after my last AutoUlti !!.. knockout !!........
Ps; the though off, not having to smuggle root balls is very attractive. thinking of making a RDWC system with two 27ltr pots. One a rotary res, connected to the culture pot nxt door to it. This means i can pump both out from the res nxt to it. Which circulates. That way i dont have to lift the plant off the culture tub, that often. using the skunk culture tea bag, means i only have to clean culture pot every 2 weeks !! HB
Mate love that!
Now you come to mention it he was a bit relaxed and slow.
Best friends and dope eh... Ive lost um both
)
Brother ditch the dirty and get on the hydro train with us... There's plenty of room for you
true!! Rock and roll my alien bro! Subb'ed up and excited to watch!
Im trying Groth my brother... This room has been ages in the coming
The pots are now all connected, all the lights are up. Im pretty much done but keep saying that and keep on finding more little jobs to do.
Oh yea Im tiding all the cables up.... Nearly there! Ive come this far I may as well get it bang on. :tiphat:
True, do you have plywood floors? Any emergency drainage? I build my room in OSB and insulated everything and thought of putting down 3 layers of sealing rubber that you coat bathrooms with before you put up tiles on the floor and walls. (Not sure I´m using the right words here, only know them in Swedish). I might coat the floor and a foot up the walls. I´m a sloppy feeder haha.
If I did hydro I´d treat the room as a bathroom. Full coat and drainage. But again, I´m clumsy!
Hey Milky my good man
Yes marine ply floors with insulation underneath. All the floor and 6" of the walls from floor up have been tanked with just the stuff you are talking about. This is what I used,
Tanking kit.
Also all the seams on the floor have been over laid with this mesh stuff and where the wall meets the floor. This comes in the tanking kit and I suppose allows some movement without breaking the seal.
I painted 3 coats on and really spread it thick. Now complete my thoughts are this, the tanking has worked great and Im happy but the final finish is not intended to be walked on. As you say its proper use would be under tiles. I may tile my floor later in the year or I may seal again with a much more durable swimming pool paint. For now as its only me in there is more than fine but worth considering.
Ive not added any drains in the room, I tanked the room and intended to catch and hold any leak if it happens.
This is me going overboard really but if I do get a leak I dont want damp shitty boards rotting and stinking for ages and ages.
Plan for the worst, hope for the best thats my motto
(are you Swedish? If so your doing well on the English, better than my Swedish thats for sure. respect!)
If you do it properly, you dont really need to. Since I go into using the Alien system, my run-off to the floor literally disappeared. You obviously do have a little splash here or there, but 3 grows in I can honestly say I just need 1 little towel for the tiniest amount of dripping when draining/filling.
It was far far FAR worse when I had pots and run-off trays/storage box...
I hope your right but Ive tanked it all out now :slaps:
Can you mention this a bit earlier next time Brother Groth
