Lighting Duckster goes for seconds

Day 87 cont. cont. cont.

The AK has topped out at 37" Her buds filled in a bit more. I had to add a steak and tie her up a bit too. Her branches weren't falling over completely, but i had to do something to make her look more photogenic. lol Probably the fewest orange pistols of the three, but the buds are smelly and sticky. I'm hoping she will give up at least 60-70g.

So, was planning to chop this week at the next opportunity. I plan to hang dry whole branches with no trimming. Will trim fan leaves a couple of days later. Also plan to turn off intake and exhaust fans with 1 small fan to circulate the inside of the cab. Also plan to dry one paper bag of each strain but this time I will triple bag. Hoping these slow the dry some so I can get a good tasting cure.

As always thanks to all who have stopped by to take a peek and listen to my ramblings. :thanks::pass::biggrin:

Day 90 - "Ladies, ready or not, the Fiskars brothers are here!"

The ladies met the axman today. Last time i tried to do a paper bag dry but they were like toast after about three days. Trying to slow the drying process this time so I did several things different from last time.
I'm drying in the cab again but this time I wanted to turn off the intake and exhaust fans and just run a small fan inside to circulate the air. With all of the fans running the rh in the cab is about the same as it is in the room (35-45%). Figured I could get the rh up if I shut off the air exchange. BUT easier said than done. One master switch controls all of the power in the upper cab (fans, lights, and outlets). Had to do a bit of re-wiring to make one outlet live regardless of the master switch position. Seems to working as it is 40% rh in the room and 65% in the cab.

I am hang drying most of the harvest but I did not give up on the paper bag dry entirely. I did one bag of each strain but I did that a little different too. Last time I used single bags. This time the big bags are double bagged and the little bag is triple bagged. I only trimmed the fan leaves off of the bud that went into the bags. I will trim them further after they are dry before I get a dry weight.

I mostly just hung whole branches using different color clothes pins to indicate the strain. I did not do any trimming on the stuff that I hung. Plan to trim the fan leaves in 2-3 days and trim some more after they are dry.

I did not bother to get a wet weight this time. Thought it would be a bit disappointing with all of the extra leaf and stems attached. My minions attitudes ranged from confused - forlorn - to downright pissed off, but they mellowed after I got them relocated. lol

Ah man sorry to hear that. How did she taste? Kind of crappy I bet, but would also bet the buzz is still great! Are ya going to do anything different when you dry your candy kush?

Those AK's are beautiful man, I can't remember where I left off in this thread so I'm just gonna read the whole thing again... So if you get a serious like bomb in the near future... Sorry.

Had 2 batches of it 1 was dried fine and the second was overdried. The smoke and taste was very similar but the driwr 1 didnt smell or look as good. This time im going to keep a closer eye on them. I know the general opinion is that 62% is perfect humidity but i prefer it more like 67 so thats what im aiming for

The TS was dry in 7 days. I trimmed her up as best I could. What a pain. I think that I will be trimming when I harvest from here on out. I ended up with 42gm of small semi-fluffy buds. It smells and tastes better than the last TS did at this point. The buzz is still really good.

The TBM was dry in 8 days. Trimming her was even more of a pain with all of the foxtailing. She yielded 38gm of big fluffy buds. She tasted so-so and I was smoking TS popcorn prior to the sample so I have no clue on the buzz. Will let her age for a few weeks before I taste her again.

The AK took 9 days to dry. Her buds weren't as big as the TBMs but she had a lot more of them. They were the densest, stickiest, and smelliest of the three plants. She yielded 65gm. Her smell hints of her pre-harvest smell but still pretty harsh tasting. I think this one should taste pretty good in a few weeks. Don't know about her buzz either as I was in my "normal state" when I sampled her too. lol
