Harvest & Curing Drying in a brown bag

Hey guys, my buds have only been in the bags for 2-3 days and it seems like some of the stems are already about to snap. RH in the tent has been pretty stable at around 45%, and just the bottom of the bags are lined with buds. I have some small hygrometers for my jars, didn't think to drop them into some of the bags, but I'll do that today Anyone know what kind of humidity I should be looking for in the bags before jarring?

Some things I've read state that the paper bags can wick moisture from the buds, and cause them to dry faster.

They're mostly still hanging, but some kept falling and are now sitting on the floor. I only turned the fans (on the floor) on for a couple hours the first day, exhaust fan has been running the whole time.

If the buds are small they may be dry enough to jar.
If you think theyre dry, jar them for 24 hrs and check humidity.
I try to seperate buds by size in the bags .
hope that helps

I have mine mostly separated by size too. I just checked again, and the stems on the big nugs are still somewhat pliable (not much), but the smaller or more airy nugs and popcorn nugs are snapping. That does help a bit, thanks.

Think I might take a couple of the bigger nugs and break them down just to see how moist they are inside.

Yep, sounds like a plan.
I would take all your smaller buds and jar them.
Wait 24 and check, your humidity will go back up some once the buds level out in the jars.
If theyre 70 or less, start your cure.
If theyre good then bigger buds next day and so on.

Thanks for the reps skurge, good luck.
They should be pretty tasty already if the bags were left closed.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about the smell/taste. Even the small amount that I quick dried and jarred the day after chop smells and tastes really good to me, though it is a tad harsh on the throat. Just don't want to over dry it.

It seems to me that if you're opening the bags to check, you're defeating the whole purpose of the bag.

This is true from what ive read, i dont open my bags till day 4 .
The place i first read about it was on autoflower portal.
In skurge's case it was a good thing he did check.
He did say day 2 or 3, im betting day 3.
He's also drying in a closet with fans.
I think the first time anyone trys this method they should check how quick or long, for theyre drying conditions.
Everyone will be different to some degree.

True !!!
