New Grower Dr. Frog's Think Different LED organic grow journal

I love that little bush of buds:) Looks very solid.

Thanks Trapper50cal! I like this little bush of buds too. I gotta figure out how to make my next plants taller next time. Seems like the opposite of what most people shoot for. :P

I'm checking out your grow too. Nice work!

Thanks! What do they say about sunshine and dog's asses? :)

Dr Frog. I have the Mars II 300-380 watt (called 700W) light. I am new to this but I am surprised at how short and bushy my Fast Bud plants are. Can a light cause bushy plants? Take a look at my log if you'd like to see the plants. https://www.autoflower.org/f44/first-timer-33036.html

Hey jackmc, seems like we have the same thing going on. I only had a single plant, so it was hard to tell if it was genetics or the light that caused such a stout little bush. Maybe it is the lights? They're super strong and we are both in pretty small places. I'm gonna try my next run keeping the panel at maximum distance to see if it helps them stretch up more. From what I can see, you don't have as much vertical room to work with, so I don't know. But I can't complain because it's doing an awesome job of making really dense flowers. :)

Great to hear. I haven't been able to move the light farther than 24" from the plants at any time. I've had it at max height since I had my first deficiency and the plants are thick. I was afraid that the light was causing my problem so I placed a diffuser over the LEDs lens. The plants didn't seem to even notice.

Interesting... what did you use as a diffuser? I've thought about using one for younger plants.

Day 68

Buds are swelling up all over this little bonsai tree! Getting closer to harvest. I trimmed some of the fan leaves that had gone yellow/crispy to let the little buds get their share of light.

My gf is getting anxious to harvest this... :P

Harvest day! Day 73

This plant seems ready. Tons of leaves are fading and when I look at the trichomes with my scope, I can't find any clear heads. They're all milky with a few ambers here and there. I grew Think Different because of its reputation for a strong uplifting sativa, so harvesting now makes sense to really emphasize those qualities. I've never grown a plant to harvest before, and the thought of chopping her down is a bummer. Good thing I've got two other Dutch Passion seeds started for my next grow already! [emoji12]

Anybody have some tips for harvesting? I was thinking I'd cut all the big leaves first, then go through and try to get the large sugar leaves trimmed off and saved for edibles. Then... cut the main stem at the base and hang the whole thing to dry? Kind of the part I need advice on. Not sure if it'd be better to leave the plant intact, or to cut the branches and separate and hang them individually.
