Harvest & Curing Do they work? Not sure if my expectations are correct

I just purchased to give a try. Dried till stem snap, put in jars w/hygrometer til 62% then into bag. My question is about heat sealing. If the bag is ziplocked, what is purpose of heat seal?

still learning.

I would imagine for long term storage.

question, so in my limited understanding i thought the bag would auto-correct to the right RH and went ahead and heat sealed the bag with a RH of 59%. Thing is during the 1.5 weeks seince then it has instead fluctuate between 55-59% during random checks. Normally if it was a jar i would just add a drop or two water to the side of the jar and in a day or two it would rise to 62%, how do i fix it in this case though?
Destroy the bag to get it open then place in new bag with 62 boveda? Or is there an alternative?

I suggest: Trust the bags, they work for what they are designed to do (which I don't recall includes maintaining 62% RH).

In my view constant 55-59% RH is optimal for longer-term storage and curing (which is what the bags are for). The 62% you seek may be more optimal or preferable for near-term consumption, particularly if smoking joints vs. vaping. So the buds you expect to smoke in coming days might be kept with a 62% Boveda pack.

The boveda kinda ruined it, got that, well it smells ok, kinda musty, over wet stem smell to most of it though, tastes like actual SH... :(, luckily 1 more bag without the boveda in thats doing a bit better. 2 bags ruined lol, second time my weeds went bad with a boveda in for cure, slightly over damp stems ruining the batch im guessing, normally use a turkey roaster and let them air for a good few before bagging, stems snapped, just fired them in this time and let the bags/boveda too it, mainly smoking moisty sweated grass :( Ill keep updated on the third bag, im keeping eyes on her, later cut, dried a slight bit longer and burped some, currently in that do i lock it up or keep her airing phase, shes currently locked up, redemption is ny?.

that has been my experience as well using bovedas in jars and i was stumped as to why despite long curing times, dark closets, low temperatures, etc :gassy1:

Anyway just cracked open a grove bag that was curing for two weeks an it was AMAZING! For the first time i actually produced stuff that wasn't smelling like hay, and actually smelling, tasting and feeling like what we refer to locally as HG or medical, which is sold hella expensive by the gram!

Also i didn't understand why the heat seal is necessary as it had a ziplock but it made lot difference. before even unlocking the ziplock and i just unsweated piece of the sealed bag over the ziplock and the SO who was in nex room separated by corridor ran in an said she knows i opened smth and it smells great.

an these results were with slightly overdried weed, i really can't wait to do my next harvest to see the results.

Well, I wasnt overly impressed with the bags if Im honest. Admittedly Im far from an expert on this stuff, but the bags were NOT maintaining humidity in my case. This could be a drying issue prior to the bags, but I just found them more frustrating than they were worth. I elected to switch to jars instead and have been happier with the results.

When I over-dry, it happens a lot in this desert I live in, I put the bud in jars with Boost 62 until they re-hydrate. Then in the Grove Bags without Boost and heat seal them. I have some buds 18 months in Grove Bags and it is like the day I put it in there!

3rd, 4th bag, turned out the same overall, bit worse, the other 2 got a bit better with some air and time, sure this one will aswell, there was some awesome bud in those bags, and some terrible bud, the dry was bunked and i didnt really acclimatise before i bagged, expected the bags to do that work for me. If i ever get round to it again and it goes well on the dry ill tell you how it turns out.
