I am looking at doing 2-4 auto plants in coco coir in 3 gallon fabric pots with the autopot automatic watering system but I would want to use my own reservoir and pots for it. I would like to know if people buy the parts that go into the reservoir and the trays and use them with your own reservoir and tray and pot for it. It looks like you could buy the grommet that goes in the reservoir then put the tubing from that to the aquavalve that is in your own tray but I would like to know if any of you do that on there.

The aqua valve is designed and made to fit into the auto pot tray. I doubt it would work in your own home made tray.. People do use their own res, and people do use their own fabric pots in the auto pot trays.

Thanks. I read on the website that the aquavalve has the cover that you can use to use it with your own tray though I wondered if any of the people on the forum did that. You mentioned that people use their own fabric pots in the auto pot trays. Do you mean that if you do this tray

Then you could put the aquavalve in that tray then put a regular fabric pot in that tray and it would work? You would not need the copper thing if you do that right? Is that how that works in the tent on there?

If u check their site u can use a 4x4 tray I think they recommend 2 valves for a tray that size. I just think u have to come up with a way to keep them down. I think @HemiSync used 2 in a 4x4 tray in a greenhouse.

The thing u lose with that is each plant getting the water it needs individually the tray will get flooded even if one of the two or three is drinking.

Thanks. I would likely use 1 tray with 1 aquavalve per plant. I have been watching videos and it looks like there is a lot of maintenance with the autopots between grows. I want very little cleaning with maintenance for the grow equipment and tent. I am looking at autopots and blumats as I thought they may be more efficient than hand watering the plants in coco coir though I do not want a lot of work between grows that you do in the tent on there.

I just saw the cover on their website.. I didn't know about that. So it is possible to use the aqua valve in your own tray. I've obviously never done it, and not sure if I would try it. I like to keep things simple.

Thanks. I do plan to do the cleaning in the tent though I want to keep it to as little maintenance as possible in the tent on there. I am now looking at using the tray they have for it. Have you seen the easy2grow system? Does it look like those 2 pots are not far enough apart in the tray for it? It is less expensive than the system with 2 different trays on there.

No point really in using a diy tray as the ones that come with autopots are relatively cheap and work really well. If you follow all instructions correctly you only have to clean everything once in between grows and the tank also once mid grow. It is easy and has made growing so automatic its almost boring now. The easy 2 grow system has the pots too close for cannabis. My sweet spot for autopots has been to buy the 4 to 6 autopot system (the 15l regular size) then switch all the buckets foe the 8.5l ones used in the easy to grow system. I find that 15l pots are simply too big and grow too big of plants for the space.
