Day 37

Preflowers are setting in so I changed out the two CFLs. I ran into an issue with the carbon filter due to the mineral deposits left behind from not using RO or distilled water.. (I push air through it rather than pull through it) ..I gave it a good cleaning yesterday and have decided to leave the filter off until/if the smell becomes an issue. It vents into an adjoining room which has a nice draft that goes towards the attic. Just in case, I have a tyvec bag of zeolite hanging directly in front of the exhaust and an industrial grade negative ion generator set on a timer to go on and off every 15 minutes.

Some of the very new growth seemed to be twisted a little bit. I thought it might be the lights being too close but I searched around only to find out that it's common for this to happen when transitioning from veg to flower. For a strain that's Indica dominant, its leaves are very Sativa-ish.

I'm really liking this set up but the only draw back is the size of the drain on the container.
I won't use this container again and have come up with something similar that will drain much faster.

Another week passed and another week of really nice growth

Loving the watering system mate :pass:

Keep the updates coming buddy

Stay safe out there :bighug:

All the best :bong:

Day 41

I gave her the afternoon fill and drain but I ran into a little problem. It wouldn't drain. I thought that maybe some roots had covered the drain hole so I blew down the tube to dislodge it but I couldn't get any air into the tube. What had happened was there was a build up of algae blocking the tubing. I'm using clear tubing and the tubing is wrapped in a slightly larger diameter tubing that's black and has been slit lengthwise and placed over the clear. Apparently, the small amount of light that got through the slit was enough to create an algae problem. Fortunately, the clear hose is in two different pieces joined by a barbed fitting so I was able to remove the tube with the blockage and replaced it with a silicone tube with a slightly larger diameter. Unfortunately, the only black plastic tubing that the LHS has is very rigid but fortunately I had a bunch of it kicking around so I doubled up on the slit black tubing over the clear and the problem shouldn't present itself again. I was afraid that something like this might happen but I'm glad that I could take care of it without having to spend a dime. Sometimes it pays to hang onto stuff that might otherwise get tossed.

Anyway, here she is as of this morning.

Thanks! I actually got sick of waiting ten or fifteen minutes for it to drain so I'm now siphoning it via the PVC 'water level meter'. It drains in 30 seconds now. The other day, I built an upgraded system that shouldn't have any of these draining issues. And yes, she's doing really well. Today is day 45 which means that it's just about half way done.

Day 53

It's hard to believe that there's still another month (or so) left to go. The manually draining with a siphon pump several times a day is getting old but I'm fortunate to at least be able to do so. It's not that big of a hassle but knowing that there's an easier way makes it a little more inconvenient. It's hard to tell with the lights on but without the lights it's easy to see where White Widow got its name.
