Another year, another grow! Hooray!

I've been slow getting around to posting anything here for quite awhile - personal and work commitments hit me all at the wrong time and priorities needed to be changed. I appreciate the patience that themongol & Dinafem-Mark have given.

Grab your favorite smokable, and hopefully we'll see what these babies can do.

It's been explained to me that for flower, ruderalis has two 'features' compared to a regular plant:
1. No photo-period dependency, and,
2. Flowers & matures faster

I've got a bit of experience with autos, but had never heard of the faster growing trait of the ruderalis being brought into a photo before by it's lonsome. I'd really like to do a side by side of the regular, auto, and quik's and do a comparison, maybe next crop.

I dropped 4 beans of each, which, turned out, I only had 2 of each germinate (1 of the Critical Kush's split the husk, but never came up.

Of the 2 Criticals, both had a hard time shedding the husk after liftoff. I let them go for awhile, I've always thought it's best (and less risky) to let the plant do it, but these seedling weren't having much luck. So, surgery was performed, and the patients have made it through great. Notice the colours on the cotelydon from being stuck in the seed husk....

The Critical Kush had no issues with the husks, and are enjoying a sunny day

And speaking of days - its' early ones for all of these.

It's also going to be an additional step for me to do light deprivation, unless I let them run all the way into the fall. As an outdoor grower, I prefer the sun :) But if I let them run until the fall, I won't be able to see how much faster flowering they'll have.

So, I'm going to let them run a little past maturity, and induce flowering. I be carrying a few more pots around daily, but, that's what I do alot of anyway.

Until next week....

Week 1 in the soil is done, and seeing some good growth on the four that started. I'd spoken a little too fast about the Critical that popped. I was going to bin the one that cracked (but hadn't yet surfaced), but when I went later in the day to do just that - I'd noticed a small break in the soil. While a slow starter, it did come through, and has been growing well since. Perhaps I put it a little deeper, perhaps it was just loading up for takeoff. It's on the left...

Meanwhile, the Kush is doing it's thing, humming along with a full week of sun and more to come. Hoping for good yields and good gear out of these. The light deprivation thing is something I haven't done for a looooong time. Got to get a blackout space ready for them. Deciding when to flip will be coming up in a few weeks.
