OK, I know, I lied. I have not put an update here on Amnesia #2. She is doing fine and I will put a complete update here today. But I just had to pass on a tip from one of the best lessons I have learned this grow. Always, always , always, make sure the lid to your liquid fish fertilizer bottle is TIGHTLY attached BEFORE shaking. Because that is one of the more interesting smells you will ever experience, when you're wearing it, and cleaning it off the vanity and mirror and walls and etc..... WOW, that is some powerful stuff.
Since I'm sitting here, I guess I will give an update. Pics will come in a separate post later today. Amnesia #1 is still looking phenomenal. I am still in awe that I am growing this. The discoloration of the big fan leaves that I mentioned has not become any worse, but I am noticing some small rust colored spots on some of the smaller leaves. This would lead me to believe that I am at the beginning of a slight CaMg deficiency. Since I have also been experiencing some soil compaction issues, I have the following plan in progress. I will flush through the pot with clear water in 1/2 gal increments and manipulate the pot in between flushing to loosen soil. After a couple of these cycles, I will add 5ml CaMg+ to the gallon of water before the final 2 flushes. In a couple of days I will then resume the previous feeding schedule. I may also do a quick Foliar feeding with epsom salts dissolved in water for a MG boost. This should clear out the soil and help all around.
Amnesia #2 is just cruising along looking great. Buds are doing their own little thing while the plant is gaining in height daily. Took her off her bucket a few days ago, and she is quickly outgrowing the box she is sitting on now. Soon she will be on the floor,(no more high chairs for this baby), and competing straight up flat foot with #1 for all the LED she can get. I have been running a daylight spectrum CFL as side lighting for #2 and just rotating her 1/4 to 1/2 turn each time I check in on her. Same goes for #1 except that she has 2 soft white CFL's side lighting her.
Again, I would have to say that overall these have been extremely easy plants to grow. I know I was having an issue with my previous soils. So in preparation for this grow, I did some research and addressed the soil issue. I also investigated and decided upon an organic fertilizer regimen. I also realized that LED lighting is going to be the effective and efficient lighting option for the future of growing. I mean, my god, look what TaNg is doing over there. Once I had the new LED onboard, it was time to grow. I had addressed the three main things a plant needs to grow. A home, with the proper environment, and good food. If these are addressed before you even germinate a seed, then the rest is easy. These plants gave me a little grief in the very beginning, looked like mutants for weeks but soon turned into beautiful little plants that are happy and showing gratitude.
