Dialing In MEGA CROP for Auto's

I don’t know, I’m definitely thinking mega crop isn’t quite enough by itself , at least not for what I have going right now I’m sure every strain and/or setup is gonna be different... when I first started feeding the megacrop it was pretty obvious it was working well because the plants basically came alive and grew pretty well for having been a bit stunted in the beginning.. I liked what I saw.

But since flowering started I haven’t really liked what I’ve seen, It’s impossible for me to say for sure if they just need different nutes than what they are getting from the MC alone, or wether it’s just grower error or some other issue.. (possibly both?)

As I hopefully cancel out more potential causes for the issues I’ve seen, I have to decide wether I’m just done with megacrop in general... or if there’s a very good chance I just need to amend that better (sweet candy and BE?). One thing I’m definitely not using again is fox farm stuff. I should be starting some Pineapple Express tomorrow, I was going to use roots organic this time, amended with perlite. I kind of do want to try the megacrop again.. But I just wish I could find more people saying “hey MC wasn’t enough for my plants so I added BC and SC and it worked”. Because if MC is really working for everyone all on its own... then obviously I have other issues to figure out & fix elsewhere :(

I do have a thread in the sick plant forum if anyone feels like lending some expertise, (particularly anyone familiar with MC, SC & BE). Might be too late to change much with these ladies but not the ones starting tomorrow!
I know @pop22 has been using MC by itself now for a few grows and seems to swear by it. I’m currently trying it by itself for the first time and so far it seems to be good, but I’m only a week or two into flowering.

I switched to MC midgrow from AN nutes with no problem. I was just switching to flower, photo plants, and started off with 3g per gallon, girls looked okay a few days later so just went on from there.
Thanks HemiSync. I’m a first time grower, DWC. My 3 ladies are in mid flower, early flower, and early early flower. My plan was to finish the grow with the GH nutes I’ve been using but my impulsive gut tells me to make the switch. The MC and additives are all here and itching for me to tear the bags open. The 3g’s sounds like a good starting point.

Wait until your next water change and then switch.

Not sure which additives you are going to be using but remember the nitrogen. Some of the additives have added nitrogen and this could lessen how much MC you need to use.

I just reread where you said you were a first time grower using DWC. Good luck and glad to see someone else as crazy as me. My first indoor grow was 4 five gallon DWC buckets.

Thanks Hemi! Really loving my 5 gallon buckets. I’ve got just the 3 buckets now and I’m doing the add back a gallon of water every day thing. Almost done adding a top off reservoir! Next grow I’ll add a fourth bucket. Could have used a 5x5! Are you still hydro?

By additives I meant sweet candy, bud explosion, cal mag, possibly gravitron.

I can only do pure DWC hydro in the winter when it’s cold enough. That’s why I switched to autopots so I could grow year round. It’s no fun fighting water temps around here in the summer. I do plan on doing a DWC run this winter so I can see how big these Fast Buds Tangie seeds are really supposed to get.

Here is a picture from my very first DWC grow. I had no idea what I was doing and I let the girls outgrow the tent.

Ha ha that’s awesome! It’s a constant battle keeping them under control. What did you yield on that grow?

I got a set of Autopots but I’m thinking to stick to the buckets. We’ll see. But in the summer I’ll probably have to get a mini AC unit for the tent.

That was four Purple Urkles and they produced a little over 11 oz. By the end of the grow I had those girls twisted every which way to keep them out of the lights. It was a nightmare that I dont care to ever repeat.

I have this dual hose air conditioner in my cart for purchase next year, which doubles as a dehumidifier. With this I should be able to do DWC year round.
