Photoperiod Death's Ceaseless Cycle

La Buena Hierba Flower - Cycle 5 - Day 1
  • Glad to be here at this point. This was an excellent veg with the smallest plants being late transplants. Many delays presented themselves due to the spider mites and root aphids I've finally exterminated. This run involves 8 Panama Haze and 1 Diesel Deluxe in the left corner. She is mother and because my life circumstances could change I withheld some Panama Haze from this cycle.

Everything was already in 5 gallons or freshly transplanted so I'm giving everything Week to transition. They're all treated with nematodes and Bassiana in 100% Coco using 2.4ec and 6.2ph MaxiGro with Sweet Candy. I can't gush enough about how much I love GLN's SC.

La Buena Hierba Flower - Cycle 5 - Day 0
  • I've thrown everything into flower after handling a few issues that occurred, took all the pics with manual focus - still pretty hype to get my camera but I can ramble about that more later. So to recap, I'm working with 8 Panama Haze and 1 Diesel Deluxe in the back left.

Ordered a net with these neat pole clips and I went ahead and lightly scrogged after flipping to flower today. Everything took very well to the transplant plus weave but the right plants need a stronger flush. Found root aphids attacking some of my plants now that I know they aren't fungus gnats but the Bassiana takes a few weeks to work. The other issue is that they molt and can fight the fungus that way but I've been applying this stuff weekly. Sprayed everything down with Castile and I'll stick to that for every three days for a few weeks.

I've also got some clones of the Copacabana Haze along with Panama Haze looking amazing in Coco. Geeked for this camera kit I've been piecing together for nearly a year with obsessive research and deep thought. Finally settled on the Fujifilm x pro 3 along with Venus' 65/33/9 manual focus lenses plus the Fuji xc 15-45 zoom lens. Going to be doing some really dope extreme macro photography for trichomes and in general. Really hate my camera phone but I also like dedicated tools.

This is my healthiest veg to date that will be even more successful when I calibrate my pH meter. Don't use Bassiana in a reservoir, the carrier powder makes it gross. I'll bottom prune these around a week in and try to get any larf.

La Buena Hierba Flower - Cycle 5 - Day 5
  • Looking good so far, keeping Castile going every two days. I'm pretty happy with the weave and overall growth, I'll prune more in another week but super happy.

It will be nice to move from this house and build my best grow properly. The pest issues have been exhausting on top of the deceased quality that my bud has yielded. Really accustomed to pulling 1.5-2lbs per harvest but my average has dropped to 3/4lb every harvest.

La Buena Hierba Flower - Cycle 5 - Day 19
  • It's official, I'm moving in may and this will be last grow until I get settled somewhere new. It's an illegal state, it puzzles people as I'm leaving a legal state. Coming from illegal to legal in Missouri has been a joke that didn't change my circumstances as a grower compared to pre legalization. I'm not too fond of the culture here either in regards to cannabis, overall I'm a hermit that could give a fuck about Canna conventions and meeting up.

Anyways, on to the plants. As this is my last grow it is looking amazing but I'm glad this will be the last one for awhile. I've been needing new equipment and a fresh start after fighting spider mites.

Not much to report on these as they've been drinking and received their last prune a few days ago. This is going to be an amazing grow though. I can report back that I'm not really liking any of the three strains from LBH, not really satisfying my palate the way Malawi x Panama/Zamaldelica x Kali China for sativas or in general.

La Buena Hierba Flower - Cycle 5 - Day 53
  • It's been awhile since I updated.

I see some weight going on and we're still 17ish days out from harvest. I've conquered the aphids and spider mites mostly with peppermint Castile. Going to need a good bud wash, smoked some off the plant last night that smelled and tasted off. Looking like 1.5-2lbs but these last few weeks will tell.

I was actually able to compare the coco to the Growpito in terms of water usage, the Growpito needs less by about 30%. Dry back takes longer but the symptoms of drought stress have been far less likely to occur. Not sure what I'll do in my new grow but Growpito with AutoPots easy valves sounds really good to me. I'm seeing a slowdown in lightning technology which is a good thing, still in love with Growlight Australia's highlights. That 3.0umol efficacy and spectrum are just superior.

I could go on and on because I debated using c02 but I don't think it's necessary. I'd love to do about 4x 4x4 flower rooms, a 4x16 veg space for mother's/clones/veg staging. Be pretty dope at 9 plants per space and a 2lb harvest every 3 weeks. 3 week veg after clones taking root. Still interested in GLA's side lighting but CutterAu is doing some incredible things for the DIY crowd. UVA, far red initiation, and full spectrum( 390-730nm) lighting are still my dream. Anywho, I'll make it happen I'm sure.

La Buena Hierba Flower - Cycle 5 - Day 58
  • Lights are dimmed down and plants haven't drank in three days so the end is near with the fade beginning on the older clones to the left. In a perfect world they would have all begun to fade within three days of each other however - This is where consistency and quality meet because the mothers weren't healthy in addition to not being cut at the same time at all. All of this will be factored into my next build because I'll need an accurate timeline from cut to veg to determine plant count but I'm thinking 16 plants per 4x4 on a Floraflex system with a two week veg and a 1.5-2# harvest every month of beautiful landraces. It will allow me enough to press rosin, make cobs, and do fresh frozen hash.

Anyways, lights are dimmed and I'm pretty sure I'm at the finish line. I love dealing with clones when it comes the reduction in time to harvest, can't wait to couple it with far red initiation. This is just about the end of the road so once I hit harvest I'll have final pics.

La Buena Hierba Flower - Cycle 5 - Day 61
  • Several lights out pics. Most of the pots are beginning to dry back but also fade so I'm undecided whether I'll let them die or water them once more.
