One thing to be careful of especially with chicken manure, is make sure its composted. Fresh horse manure isnt bad in moderation, but chicken can be pretty strong and will burn plants if not properly composted

Amen to that. I need to do some research on checking N in compost.

Comfrey liquid is second to none..easy to make and free.

I use borage for the same thing @912GreenSkell ..that and comfrey are supposed to be the best nitrogen rich ferts you can grow...

Fresh leaves also used for lining trenches and..Mother always wrapped a seed potato in a leaf before she planted them....

I've got them under 1 of the giant pumpkins....Secret Weapon.....
