So these are some shots from Olympus tough camera. Considering most of these are taken while free diving, with pretty horrendous available light the colours came out pretty great. Also to note, when your down 10metres holding your breath, keeping the camera steady is one hell of a challenge. So grow tent pics should be a breeze.

Beautiful pics!!

Great tips!
I was seriously considering a tg-5 for my new camera, but the low resolution video turned me off the model. The macro mode on the nikon coolpix 9500 is only so-so, but it takes pretty fantastic video(still figuring out the sweet spots with the automatic focusing), and it only cost me $67.

$67! Can’t go wrong!
Yeah, video was a bit dodgy on the Olympus, but my photos were comparable to some of the divers with $5k plus set ups!
I actually use a go pro for video, the mrs can handle it too without getting confused!
Can’t say the Olympus was great above water as I said before, so not sure if it’s worth buying if you want it for both, especially with the price tag

Yeah i bet!! The macro mode on the TG-5 is known to be one of the best available in a compact, and overall the quality of the pics was amazing from what i saw...i did insane amounts of research before i bought a new camera...i had my heart set on a new canon(was looking at the G16), but was also very keen on the TG-5, a gopro, and a few others...its just worked out with the nikon. I bidded on it super cheap and somehow won it! Its lack a fair bit in manual modes(boo!!), but it does take a pretty solid high res video and primarily thats what i wanted it for.

Here is a couple using the old Canon SD-790IS using digital macro mode

Those are pretty tight! Can’t say you need to get much closer than that.
Try holding a piece of black card behind the bud, will make it pop! Light defusers work a treat, a piece of paper can be all you need. Hands start getting pretty full pretty quick though! That’s when I find a tripod essential. Once my girls are bigger than an inch I’ll try get some sweet seedling shots :D

I often roll coloured cardboard and use it as a backdrop, just depends where i am taking pics...i take an insane amount of trichome shots. To be honest i would like to get a touch closer than the canon will allow, but i am happy with the results she gives. I do run a tripod for sure, pretty much a necessity with the canon(and two second times as well is needed for prime shots)
