ahh cool. dont see many trying hydro on the first pop. well done for takin the plunge mate. do you have a ppm metre and a ph metre? then ill be able to answer the nute question lol.

Yep, I've got the meters. Found out that on days you can smell the chlorine in my tap water, it has a ph of 7.43 and ppm of 243-280.
(Cup of black coffee has a ppm of 1850, this morning.)

EvilScotsman is right about the silica, if you're doing any training without it, you're missing out. I can take my tops and point them directly to the floor 3 or 4 nodes down like its nothing

I concur....loving the silica additive. If you are into LST , hard bondage, gagging, spanking, whips, twisting, pulling, and throwing out safe words....Get it, use it.

I’ve always been a firm believer that the best way to educate yourself is a hands on education. I could read every article on growing and forget the smallest yet biggest details, but if I do it myself while applying what I researched I get a much better education because doing something hands on is an experience you just don’t forget.

Having this would have made lst easier on me with Britney, that bitch has strong branches but in a sense that she’s awfully woody throughout her entire structure.

@Kneehigh85 get you some silica its really worth it. I've used general hydroponics si blast before but its salty as fuck. After that one ran out, I switched to cyco and its really clean. A little goes a long way so a bottle lasts forever. They recommend something like 1mL per 2 gallons but I use 2mL per 1 gallon. Makes the plants very flexible, but really strong at the same time

@EvilScotsman
I've scoured this site, Soaking up as much information as my thc soaked brain could handle, And picking up little bits of what I'll need to grow successfully, Every pay period. I'm just waiting for seeds to show up now, and trying to decide on res size while I wait. I've got a combination of options I can go for, from using 25 gallon totes, which would run 40 gallons of water, all the way down to 5 gallon buckets which Would run 8 gallons... (Using two of each) Using a bigger volume of water would give me more control over ph and ppm (or so I've read), Which in turn would make it easier on me... But I'd need to re-up on nutes 3/4 of the way through if I go above 1/2 strength.

Yes, larger reservoir it does give you a larger buffer capacity. That is not always in your favor. I run two 27 gallon totes in a RDWC, and working level is 25 gallons. When it works, it works AMAazeBaLLs. Sometimes I get this problem where every night the rez keeps climbing up to 6.2 or so. I think it is a bad combination of nutes. Sometimes the organics don't play well with the chem stuff. So the buffer capacity is keeping it up too high. I've added insane amounts of pH down this week.

At least thats my best theory. And I should know. I have a bloody plant science degree. But this one is still a bit of a mystery.
