CS - 1st timer questions. How to time it? Better to reverse half a plant and pollinate it?

Need to see it through for myself @Builder0101 … This thread alone has 2 very contradictory messages.

1 - yeah, you can reverse part of a plant and produce viable seeds
2 - you need to wait 4 to 6 weeks apart, so the pollinated female has enough time to produce viable seeds

Of course, both methods are sure to be valid, I guess it is very strain dependent

Cool. I'll do both and document it then. Mind tagging along to this thread?

Thanks. I look forward to it. I need to simplify my grow. I want to be able to turn them etc. But fewer steps

To be fair, as im point #2, i also agree with builder in that you very much so CAN self pollenate the same plant. And do so myself. But "ideal" verses "can". I do alot of CAN that isnt ideal. Ive never ph-ed for instance.
So ill go ahead and say that this is literally a situation where opinions #1 and #2 are BOTH right.

Wait, so it CAN be done? Well then, I've got 2 plants on day 9 looking good. Will treat on and leave the other to flower (instead of doing half-half). But will also drop a new bean in water as backup.

From several weeks looking for info in my off time, never managed to get this info from tutorials or guides. My biggest question is, once a female is pollinated, will she live longer than usual for the sake of seed, or just quit life with immature seeds.

I have no doubt this is a very open question, but thanks for your input @Hypathetical Gardener makes me reassured plus with a backup plan

I'd best make this thread a seed diary for my own future development… pics and more details soon

Sorry i missed this. Yes it CAN be done. We kill these plants with flushing and by chopping them down. They will live longer if you dont try to kill them

Personal experience... Start the one youre reversing 4 to 6 weeks ahead. Start spraying 1 branch as soon as you see pistils on it. Spray 2x a day.

Its better to pollenate another plant, but you CAN self pollenate if you want.
I found that i get better timing and more/better seeds if i can hit them during early flower (pom pom stage) and allow the seeds a full 5 to 7ish weeks to mature.
Here is my experience. I find it's easy to self a single plant and have moved to a separate setup for just this. Key is spray early long before pistillate flowers show. Most time plants don't show any done my way. Here is my own quote.
I use cs bought from Ebay as a health supplement labeled as 30 ppm. I sacrifice one plant usually and only in one gallon pot.

I top at 2nd or 3rd node. Pick one side and spray it once a day as soon as the branch shows signs its growing. That side usually never shows female preflowers. Key IMHO is to start spraying early, and light single mists on the grow tip. If you wait till preflowers it takes time to show male sacs and flowering is well underway by the time pollen drops.

When it starts to show sacs and are looking like they will bust a nut you have two choices. One cut the branch and let the pollen drop collect and paint the un sprayed side. Or two put it in a separate tent and let them open and air polinate.
I do the first and split my pollen in two one gets used asap second goes into the deep freeze in case i want to use later.
Works well.

Just made about 150 seeds this way. They were separated and sitting out drying as i type this.

Interesting. Ive never sprayed before the first pistils, theyve always been my sign to start.
When exactly do you start spraying?

Its a hormonal thing. Make sense to not have to switch the hormones after sex shows. You don't have to slow down and make a uturn and go the other way. I wish I had a 2x2 for making males.

I spray as soon as the auxiliary branches start at my topping. If you don't top as soon as you can safely spray the branch you want to reverse.

I sacrifice the whole plant just easier IMHO plus you can make a shit ton of seeds.
