Mephisto Genetics Cosmic Queens in not quite living soil

day 35
In the past 3 days, the plants have been getting a bit of spa treatment - first, some vermicompost top dressed, and watered in with aerated compost tea from the same VC, to add some highly active protozoa and bacteria and really get a party going.
Along with that went a small amount of humic acid, which I've decided to add to my regime as input in place of the fulvics MO has in his original recipe. In between, some plain water. And last night, it was time for the kelp-neem feeding too.
It sounds (and feels) a tad much, but maybe that will get them through this extreme growth phase without running into nutrient cycling problems. So this is me coddling my plants - and the barley is already soaking for the next sprout smoothie on Friday ;)

When I checked on the CQ this morning, she was standing 48cm tall.

Compared to other grows being documented on AFN, she's taking her time, but then she's also very sativa-leaning and I think she's confused herself a bit with all that branching in the past days

Overnight, she has begun also fattening up her branches, and is striving upwards so strongly she pulled all the LST hooks overnight, where she was quite the lounging type just the evening before

She's really getting into blooming up now too

Poor Mz Woozy has made a leap in development too, and doesn't look at all like the orphaned cousin anymore. She's leaning more towards the indica side with a very regular and squat type of growth, even if less so than for example @awolace 's plant.

Standing at 28cm despite being a tad squished in the closet

And yes, she is lighter green at the moment than her sister

I would have thought the large CQ was going to slow her growth now, but when I checked in on her coming home just now she looked as if she had grown, and yep, 2cm since this morning :eek1: No idea what she's up to, so I'll just do my best to keep her supplied with all she needs for her "project" haha

A quick peek into the closet just now:

That "indian bean" is growing a bunch of very large leaves and tendrils, which is starting to get a tad annoying but also supplies fresh N-rich mulch for the soil. So I'll keep her alongside as long as I can anyway :D

Looks like they've got their reproductive cycles synched up too eh

Cheers! :jointman:

Every time I see your updates I wanna change from hydro to organic soil.
Haha yeah they are doing quite well!
The lil one has surprised me most, I had almost given up on her and then bam! She became a real plant!
And it's not like she's in such great soil either - The Berry Bomb Auto that lived in that pot before her was a midget and not very happy at all
2017-12-17_day69-BBA (4).JPG omg LOL - and yes that is Mz Woozy (at day 17!) in the little pot next to the BBA.
Cheers!

The big CQ is still not showing signs of settling, standing at 56cm this morning, and MzWoozy has also grown to 31cm.
At lights out:

I really should reallot the "goodie-two-shoes" badge to Mz. Woozy lol
Her canopy, nice and tidy

As compared to the big CQ, a star-spangled jungle of wildly crisscrossing leaves

And yes I am removing leaves, but only the very most bothering for now. Since I have no idea where this is going, I'm waiting for her to find her final form to do anything more drastic.

They're also thickening up their branches now, most notably visible on the big CQ, whose 2nd-node branches are as thick as the main stem :woohoo1:

I'm not expecting them to finish under 70 days the way this is panning out. :jointman:
Just hoping the soil can provide enough fire for flower!
Cheers!

Great looking girls! Yea these Mephisto Genetics is very surprising. Some can take nutes well and at both ranges, low ppms and high ppms. At least compared to others breeds plants, and theirs (Mephisto). Trident Special takes a normal range of ppms throughout the grow. Creme De La Chem can take pretty high in ppm’s during grow.
Cosmic Queen looks great. That’s the seed I am using in the Mephisto Grow Battle. You should join if you have the room. It starts on 1 Feb.

Interesting observations on the nute levels. I think I learned the most about the inner rhythms of cannabis by watching my friend's DWC grows :jointman:

Mephisto Grow Battle sounds like fun! Any strain, any substrate?!
I'd be tempted to try the Trident next, if not the cosmic queen a second time, with training :D
Sadly, I won't have any space until what's looking like March at the mo :rolleyes2:
But it'll be fun to watch! Will the thread for it be in the Mepisto forum?
cheers!

Ah cheers for the link!!
I may make it for the second leg in May, the photoperiod I've got growing should be done by then, and if we can drop our seeds up to 2 weeks in advance that could work out! :fire:
