New Grower Cosmic Charlie''s First Auto Grow Critical Jack (2) and StarRyder (3) In Soil 1000 Watt HPS

also is a window mount air conditioner capable of circulating the air and cooling down that room?

Without a proper active inline fan, the AC is your best bet. And you'll need to leave your tent doors open partially. You must have fresh air exchange. HPS with no exhaust is unheard of IME. HPS are the hottest lights there are and you have got to get that heat out of there. I'm really surprised you haven't cooked them thus far. :D Has to be all the airflow. I stay in the lower 80s most of the time, but have a box fan blowing across the entire tent, lights, and plants.

Making the outer room colder and keeping the tent open some should be ok until you can get a proper fan. I suggest doing that asap, but I know how that is...Take care dude. :smokebuds:

hps are actually the most efficient (maybe after led) thats why theyre used in streetlights, theyre less heat lumen for lumen compared to cfl etc just most dont put in equivalant amounts of cfl to compare becuase the heat would be ridiculous. you keep the ballast outside the tent aswell while cfls have it on every bulb. 1000watts of anything is gonna be hot.

but yeh you need an extraction fan with that definately, get it as soon as you can things will only get hotter.

Thank you squid and Dex, I have my ballast running at 75% right now and it is lights out in 5 minutes so I will switch that down to 50% and hopefully that will help a bit... I havent broken 85 temp wise that I know of . I have a window maybe 2 feet from the light that is boarded up ...Wondering cause it is like 40 degrees here currently maybe I could just drill a couple holes in the board and put a furnace filter to block bugs up if that would be a viable option... As far as the A/c I have an old window mount I could put in there out the boarded window but what I am wondering is will I still need to run exhaust or will the a/c do that for me I don't want to do both if I can avoid it... But I can do the A/C today...idk Is that why they keep lying down? cause they are trying to escape the heat?

The last pic was the one we needed jk, first off you need an extraction fan as you know this is why your babies are stretching mate as the lights to far away and with no extraction i dont think you'll get it low enough to stop the stretch with the heat the bulb is putting out

to help your girls fill your pots right up so you bury a good part of the stems you can bury them right up to the cyloydens...mmm the small peanut leaves, lol , and dont mist under that light

Hope this helps jk :peace:

Ps i would put your ballast on the lowest setting until you get the extractor fan this might help a bit

Thank you sooo Much Dex!!! sucks I gotta buy a whole bag of soil to do that but at least I can save them and I think I am gonna spend my medicine money for an extraction fan I have no idea how to put it up but am hoping the guys at hydro shop can help or maybe if you guys have time you can walk me through it or send me a link ... AFn is Awesome You guys are Awesome thank you all for your help and sending a whole lot of good grow Karma your way!

One more thing really quick my light is only 30" off the tops of the pots is that too low? where should it be I saw Hazy was running his 600 watt at this height to start so I thought it would be okay? I am sure I missed something haha anyway thanks again!

I got my fan ! I am going to buy ducting now and will be installing today ! Thanks ! how far should i run it from plants top approximately after the fans on? :cough:

this chart give you how well lit youll be at different wattages and optimal distances have a look.

id just keep them at the lower end(further away) of optimal while theyre small and move up when theyre more developed.
just work out how many watts youre using and cross check the chart.
