Lighting Cobshop.net info, questions and answers

I did indeed. Please know that my skills are soldering and following directions!! I belong to a DIY audio forum. That place is frequented by some of the best audio people in the world!! It is rather amazing actually. I mean Nelson Pass of Threshold fame, you know the $10,000.00 high end audio craziness stuff, commented on my interpretation of one of his designs! I basically build and alpha / beta test stuff or just build these neat things.
Here it is. It's a combo of Papa's B1 pre, AmpCamp mono blocks and a USB DAC of another's design. I listen to it everyday in my office.

Who here uses the angelina reflectors on there auto cobs? Reason I ask is I'm planning long term to get a set of four auto cobs for my 80x80x160 tent and wonder if they are required at all, I see most don't use them but also see the lumen output (due to the more focused nature) is also increased?

For the price I'd likely just buy those too either way and experiment to my hearts content. The setup currently would be four cobs over four 6.5 litre airpots in coco hand watered with Lucas formula, maybe flora nova bloom to keep it super simple.

I wonder too if the 6.5 airpots are a tad on the small side, so I could upgrade to say 10 litre ones or similar in smart pots/dirt pots. Prefer dirt pots because of the square design and tabs for a cane.

Do these auto cobs need a small clip fan blowing at the fins to allow better heat disposal, although there's not much heat. Seen that it's advised when using the spectrum King closet case (another light I'm considering long term).

Any input guys?

@AussieStoner take your time. I just received another order in and shouldn't sell out for a few weeks atleast.
I'm excited to send some cobs to Australia. Guess I can't sell you on the whole made in USA part.
Copy that!
Will I be the first Australian you've sent to? If not what's the shipping times?
And it is $134.99USD correct?
I'll take American made! I've had plenty of rubbish from cheaper countries, you pay for what you get I say :pass:

The reflectors take a very intense light and multiply it. For most people it's to much. If you have the ceiling height and light hungry strains then yes I'd throw them on. Mine are on and off all the time and that's a nice option to have. As for the heat/fan there isn't a need for additional fans. They do get warm to the touch but with any sort of air movement in your space it's enough to keep them very cool.

Shipping is 6-10 days with tracking and insurance on international orders outside USA, Mexico and Canada. Yes your the first Australian and I am very excited about it. Pm incoming.

That's great shipping times for international!
I'm so excited to be the first in the country to be running some of your autocobs! I'm going to start a grow journal on a Aussie forum and spread the good word, I know to many of us running dirty big HID lighting, cobs are the future

Hey @BigSm0, I'm gonna ask a really quick question. Please don't break my back over your knee like Bane did Batman because I ask, what does COB stand for?

You came to the right place to ask. It stands for "chip on board" Son of Hobbs took an amazing close up one of these lights a few months back which shows the individual led chips. It is basically a bunch of high quality leds packed on to a board.
