Lighting Cobshop.net info, questions and answers

See, I was thinking the same thing (3 being good vs 4) but I felt like I'd seen 4 being stated as what was recommended but the two I have are already so frickin bright, lol. Still finishing a grow with a Mars 300, so I still haven't been able to experience the full autocob goodness but soon! Once I get my next grow going I'll be training them good and early w/some topping and LST. This is still my first grow so I was a little timid with the LST and have definitely seen that I could have been much tougher on her.

Just start bending her after she has her third set of leaves and take the main trunk in any direction it wishes. Take the first two lowest branches that develop and direct them in the shape of a v opening away from the main trunk in the opposite direction of the main. The next set go back but wider like the wheels of a spoke. If you can get 8 solid branches spread out this way and hold the main down below until they are well into stretch you will get a heavy solid crown with ton's of bud. The more flowering points you can train and hold in a 6 inch zone in the top of the canopy the more main cola's you will have try to develop. Turns out to be a field of pineapple grenades. Usually 4 or much more ounces per plant.

Just snagged that Meanwell driver from Mouser. That second set of four COBs is getting closer to real!

Edit: The second set of almost done has arrived. Thanks @BigSm0 !
Now I have 4 COB/heatsink combos, driver is on the way, wire too. Closer and closer!

I for one cannot say enough good things about these lights! I even put my money where my mouth is and bought a kit of four AND 4 almost completes! I now have eight of these bad boys (girls?). Now I am getting ready to put the almosts to work now. I purchased a driver that would run two of these and decided that I want to use that to run 4 smaller cobs of my own design for my mother cabinet. That leaves me with this question. I think that a Meanwell HLG-240-C 1050B should do the job nicely if I am figuring correctly. 1.05 amp at 50 V will give me just shy of 53 watt per COB and with 238v available it should run all 4lights. Is that correct @BigSm0 ??
I'm sorry for the delay wwwillie, that driver is perfect for the 4 cobs. I really like what you have done with the singles and now the 4 almost complete cobs. Very smart!

I love the excitement. It reminds me of my first DIY which I swear felt like a girlfriend when I was a kid. Weird right? Lol Excited, happy and in love. Now I have close to 20... girls everywhere and cobs too.

Nice! I'm toying on doing the same with my current tent (2.5x2.5) once I move up to the 2x4. Been very interested in toying with chili pepper cultivation/breeding.

2-3 would be best. I think 2 would do fair and 3 would be just on the upper limits of light quantity.

I own quite a few of these babies so it's easier but I just took down a 4 cobs, added them to another area but only needed 3. I have the fourth hanging out until it's needed and when it is, it won't take much to install. I am always trying to save electricity in my space and unplugging cobs is the best way to do that. When you need them they are there and when you don't just unplug it!

No worries!

Indeed!!
I build my own audio gear and really love building stuff. Haven't built anything lately so it makes it even more fun.
Here are some of my projects.

Well you did go on a little cob buying bender this past week.
Oh Yeah!!
Now I am cleaning and getting ready to sell all my HID stuff. Hope to offset some of the costs. Cutting the electric bill by 60-75% will drive the rest of the ROI and pretty quickly too.

Wow! You built that? I've looked at hundreds of circuit boards just in awe. Who designs these or builds them, guess that's settled now. Amazing
