Chronic Pain Patients, What Strains Work Best for You?

Over use wear and tear, almost 70 yrs extreme activities(play), physical work, still living subsistence camp style. Grew Emerald Triangle's Bubba Cheese this season. Very relaxing, clearheaded, mild euphoria, some interesting mental stimulation, and for me, a lessening of pain that comes after total relaxation without couchlock. Continued night time toking leads to a long and peaceful sleep with no hang over. The deep rest induced by Indicas is very healing for me. This strain grew well for me; fast, 40", 2.5 oz.

My I have 6 back fractures & 3 in the neck, with various other broken bits & pieces. So far, of my favorites for pain:

SR60 x AK47
Pehkuruder x AK47
Critical Mass x Black Domina

A friend crossed BOG's Lifesaver with Black Domina, then sent me beans. For me, a so-so relief, but I have back-crossed to the BD again & have high hopes for this one.

Looking forward to trying the Dragon strains.

Thanks, GS, for a great thread.

Shit nan...that many spine injuries sounds like a fun time! Gasp

I love AK47 genes....any idea which breeder the AK originally came from? I used to grow serious seeds AK and it was incredibly potent. Love the sound of pehkuruder and SR60 X ak ;)

Oh nan...special thanks to @StickMan for the thread(this thread) that got me to join this site and comment. Thanks brother, because honestly you have made my life ALOT better thanks pointing me to the tincture. Seriously guys...if you are in real 24/7 chronic pain, make sure you try the Green Dragon Tincture. For me and a friend it has been superb in pain control while awake, and for sleeping. 3ml's a day keeps the doctor's poison away!

Lately this is how I've been keeping my wear and tear arthritic pain in the background. 1) After work and at night I have a number of different Indica strains, each with it's unique effects, to choose from. They all bring deep relaxation, so necessary for healing, and depending on how much pain I'm suffering and the time of evening I'll choose my med. After a restful sleep, 2) coffee and Blue Dream. Blue Dream turns out to be a really good strain for me. Love that instant Rush and Roll with that tingly thing running down my spine to the area that needs the most attention. No pallpatations, no paranoia, a steady high grounded through my body. Soon I'm loose and ready to go. 3) this is most important: First do no harm. This has taken some significant rebooting to no longer hurt myself with work. Living in camp my labor is daily, so, I focus on what really needs to be done, go about it leisurely and thoughtfully, and don't worry about "Later".

I know this thread's been asleep for awhile, but thanks to everyone who's contributed to it. I still don't have enough experience with cannabis to offer my own recommendations - only been able to procure decent-quality street bud of indeterminate strains so far. But that said, I appreciate all the experience on display here (though I wish it wasn't necessary) and have quite a list to experiment with to see what works with my own aches and pains.

Hey! Thanks for the welcome! I'm definitely excited to get started producing my own cannabis. I've seen enough positive results to know that it works, so I'm pretty psyched to see what other improvements come along when I'm the one controlling what strain I get.

As far as foods and spices, I dabble a bit here and there already, but always up for more know-how. I tend to make a ton of Indian food for myself - the turmeric and hot peppers really help to keep the aches & pains at bay.

I'm going to punch the next doctor who says" you'll feel some pressure"................ I know PAIN when I feel it, don't tell me what I'm feeling!! Grrrr.........lol

Ahh pain, if it were truly a pleasurable experience, I'd be in ecstasy............

I've tell my doctor all the time: : I'm healthy, just broken"........... 2 back operations, 16 "procedures" on my back and sciatic nerve, one rotator cuff surgery and facing a second AND may have to have a steel plate and a fusion done in my neck, though not if I can help it..................... and it all started in 1973 when some stupid asshole driving 65 miles an hour....in a 40 zone.......... in an ICE STORM.................rear-ended my car, which was stopped in the road, waiting to turn into my driveway. The impact was so tremendous, the back of the front seat was folded flat onto the rear seat! The impact drove us 250 feet down the road and over a snowbank and on the porch of a veterinarian's office! I though I was lucky when I walked away from this and so did my now ex wife.

Some days, its easier to find a place I don't hurt than to say where I do. Some days, I simply medicate myself into oblivion to escape the pain. Its why I grow a wide variety of strains, so I can rotate to the next one when what I'm using for a few days starts to not be as effective. I take canna-coconut oil capsules x3 a day. I usually wait to vape, etc until I feel a little pain, I need to feel each day if I can, a period of pain free time un-medicated.

I used my oil also for topical and I use the same high strength oil I use for caps. It works quite well for the arthritis and some of the nerve pain cause by my neck and sciatic.

I read this thread a long time ago. Its as relevant today as it was then, thank you!

Good lord, pop. That's terrible. :sadcry: My issues started in late '09 - I was in culinary school and I bent down to lift a box of ingredients off of a low shelf. Felt a "pop" in my lower back. Figured I pulled a muscle, kept on with my day. The next morning I woke up in agony, and it was all I could do to roll out of bed onto the floor and force myself upright. Since then I've bulged discs in my upper back and neck, and developed symptoms of what the wifey, girlfriend & MIL all tell me sounds like fibro or chronic fatigue syndrome. Wheeee! :cuss:

As for doctors - I told my PCP that I use cannabis for pain. She said that she couldn't condone or recommend it for me (technically a legal medical state, but still in the very very early stages) but if it worked, keep up with it. I recently saw my pain management doc after suffering a bout of sciatica (never had that before, and christ, is that some terrible pain) and when I told him I medicate with cannabis he literally sat back in his chair and looked at me like I farted on his cornflakes then proceeded to interrogate me about how much I use, how often, how long I've been medicating with it, etc. I've never been a fan of doctors, but even less so when they're telling me how the plant that I'm using to alleviate my pain and mental stress is dangerous and unstudied, but hey, take this Tramadol for a week or so instead and see how it works out. :face::face:
