Something that is counter intuitive is that to raise or lower the pH of your blood you need to understand that this is one of those absolutely vital homeostatic body mechanisms. So like an oven thermometer that senses the temperature you set it at and when it reaches that temp it switches off and when it senses it has dropped below it switches on. This is good enough for some body processes that are not that critical. There are other body homeostatic balance mechanisms that are so critical that they have one mechanism to push it up, and a separate mechanism to push it down. These antagonistic mechanisms are used for things like blood sugar and blood acidity and body temperature. Blood pH is one of these mechanisms that are too critical to allow you to fuck with it. You cannot influence your body pH directly by swallowing pH up or pH down.

Now you must understand that there are acid foods and alkaline foods, but that is not what affects the pH of your blood, what you want are foods that have an acid or alkaline forming effect on the body. For example, citrus fruits are acid, but the effect they have on the body is to make the blood more alkaline. Dairy produce is often an alkaline food but the effect it produces on the body is acid forming.

The way that your body controls for too low pH of the blood is to leach alkaline salts of calcium and magnesium out of your bones. So milk not only does not give you strong bones, it makes your bones weaker, contrary to the propaganda of the dairy industry. So if you want to avoid an acid condition of the blood then do not eat acid forming food. For example Almonds are acid forming, Walnuts are acid forming.

Awesome information!

Does the incoming ph of water you drink affect the amount of acid in your stomach?

Is 5.8ph more likely to give you heartburn or excess stomach acid vs drinking 7.4ph water?

Sorry if we are off topic Nosias..... was just curious about PH effects since we were on the subject.

@ManOGreen, you sent me on a search of the local government water information. Looks like the only danger is from tanks that may contain copper pipe or other heavy metals where the acidic water can leech zinc. Anyhoo out tank is food grade plastics. Also mosquitos carrying denge fever and stuff. But other wise it's all good. I like it because it only has 30ppm and it will be great to flush with because of that. But as pointed out earlier, there's already fluorine and chlorine and stuff, although the tap water here is pretty good. And I'll be vaping not smoking anyway. Plus I'm closer to the end of my life than the beginning. eek.

I think you might be getting mixed up with ulcers, which were hypothesised for ever to be caused by all sorts of things to do with diet, until someone finally discovered that it was a bacteria. None of the scientists believed it. Apparently the scientist who came up with this proved it on himself by purposely infecting himself with the heliobacteria then curing it with antibiotics.

As already pointed out by someone further upthread, the acid already in your stomach can dissolve metal. It's strong stuff, I doubt some weak alkali is going to have a lot of effect if it refluxes up a bit.

Good info for sure. I believe it is time to find the train station and get this thread back on it's original track.

Today is
Oct 29, 2018 4 weeks & 3 days old

This is an early update today. I will be getting a pace maker replacement this week so I will be out of pocket and out of town.

The rez could have gone a few more days BUT I maybe gone for 8 days so it was time to "filler up". 24 liters was placed in the rez. Initial PPM is Zero, always is, and PH was 8.6. I added 25 grams of MegaCrop and the PPM was 550 and PH was 6.3.

Today I did some LST. What I use is a combination of coated wire and a few screws attached to a tie wire. The screws are a weight I use on the side branches and main cola to bend and weigh them down. It spreads out the ladies to let in more light.

The ladies are now 10" - 14"inches tall. Two of the tallest ladies have the main cola bent using the screw weights. My intent is to make the main cola lower than the top 4 side branches. I have done this on my last two grows with great success.

Take care and thanks for following along.
