Live Stoner Chat Cheap RO system

I got this one for like $30. It does a gallon in about 17 mins. When I check the TDS, it reads 000-002 depending on how fresh it is. Time for a new filter as its now pushing to 009ppm. Still MUCH better than the 200+ ppm of my tap water. Cheap, and it works.

So I guess there are no shortcuts and I must buy RO system.
Thanks guys!! :bighug:

Guys, can someone recommend me something similar to RO filters? Something cheap, I want to get rid of Ca/Mg in my water, but I will only using water for 2 plants, so no need for whole house or something big and pricey. Or better saying, just need something to lower my EC/PPM value of tap water. If it removes something else, that would be okay to me. I would like to hear science behind every option.

Maybe something like this?

Please don't comment "get rain water", because I've tried that option and is no go.

how cheap do you want to go ? I've just got my self a Vyair RO filter for marine life, paid about £120 but you can cheaper one for around the £70 mark and lower if you only looking to filter Ca/Mg. You might as well go the hole hog... Ive seen a big difference since using it.

As cheap as I can. I can get 3- or 4- part RO unit for 100€.
But for 20L water per week this is not the best/economical choice. That's why I was asking for some "little clip-on-pipe unit" or something.

But didn't find anything... so I guess I must buy this RO unit for 100€ if I want growing.

why not get one that does your drinking water then it might seem worth the money

You won't get a true RO filter for less than about $65.00 U.S. You could buy just the RO membrane and housing for maybe $50, but you'd ruin it in a month with no prefilters

Just because it's my personal pet peeve with R/O, have to toss this out. Don't forget the ongoing cost of the 3-4 gallons down the drain for each one you filter with R/O.

(I know it's still one of the best ways to get truly pure water...but the waste inherent in the method just still bugs me) :smoking:

Ebay is a great option look for bundle that come with extra filters. You can bring the price overall down of you get some freebies. You may pay a few more dollars but the it will last longer in the end. Got mine on there came with 3x seta.
