Grow Mediums [Canna] Coco Growing Tips

Hey Blue, what kind of pot do you recommend? I am thinking of trying my first coco grow and since I have a few successful hempy grows [with perlite] under my belt, a hempy style bucket with one hole a couple inches from the bottom makes sense to me. Would an air pot, a fabric pot, or something else be better?

Oops! Missed this post - sorry for the delay @gurgler >.<

I've used all sorts of pots, and i don't have a favourite as such, but didn't like using the airpots too much! It's a bit messy for me. I only really use the solid plastic pots now.

I've traditionally used 11 litres or less in size pots, square have been convenient for me, but the round ones are just as good.
Watering to run off is a good idea so have some drip trays ready and little feet for your pots so you dont have the roots sat in the run off water.

It's good practice - although not essential if you feed the right feed at the right time - the leaves will get ugly, but the plants grow fine. I say this as i've done a really bad condition grow (bad watering, bad temps) that was ultra time limited. Spent less than 3 hours with the plants over the whole grow. Never watered to run off, - didn't check the ec once, and only had a rough idea of ph as didn't test that either, got a good haul. (i partly put this down to the slightly more expensive canna coco pro medium, but patly down to cannanis plants being awesome and tough - and decent genetics (sweet trainwreck & mephisto white triangle)

But if you've got time, i'd stick to the rules! ^_^

Hope this late info helps, or your coco grow is going well! :D

Hi Blue, thanks for the reply and the thread. I'm just getting ready to start my first coco grow. actually the seeds are soaking as I write. I'm following much of the advice you've given in the above thread and i'm all excited to be trying a new medium for growing.

Hi Blue, great thread you have. Lots of good info. My only input is if using canna coco, stick with the canna coco nutrients specifically and dont waiver, its a closed system. I also use tap water to keep the buffer more intact. I find r/o water to be too problematic. :slap: blue for the great info.

Yes @strakey - Great additions - I completely agree, use the canna lineup (i personally dont bother with their pk13/14 and use dutch pro explode instead...but that's it)

And the tap water ... yes!! Bottled water has cuased me more def's than tap water!! :D .. we don't get RO water so much in the UK ..

Thanks for the rep and reviving an olllld (but maybe golllld) thread! :D

:pass:

Gold for sure, what peaked my interest was the canna specific title, i specifically use canna alone and this time around i cant get a hold of the coco without great expense so im going with bosema over here in Canada

Cheers! :bighug: .. Hmm - i worry about other coco brands - just no experience with them and have heard horror stories of rinsing and not being buffered

I guess if you follow the basic guides it should still work out fine! :D

Btw is it lady blue or do you just love hentai that much??

Well i think "lady" may be pushing it a bit far ..... but who doesn't love Hentai!?!? (... ... and where did that come from! lol)

:coffee:

your avatar suggests your female and i would like to know if this isnt just a more one sided "gardening site".
