Yeah it costs a bit, but i had to have it lol. I put in a NL X BB to compare with my soil grow, and a royal queen jack herer to 18litre pots. I will start journals when they show themselves.

Blue---I see your tips are a recruiting tool---good going Kyle. The boost is so pricey--trying Earth Juice Catalyst as a sub. However, the boost is good stuff and have a little for the PK boost.

Anyone notice the PK boost is scheduled by Canna's chart when small fruit (flowers) appear. So, about week five give or take.

"Speculating" that giving boost of PK prior to harvest flush may not be so good with autos. Why: If boosters encourage late flowering then the plant is not going to be fully ripe at harvest. And prolonging flowering could lead to some selfing--you know what I mean.

Another issue--salt build up. Using only two and one gallon Smart bags/dirt bags--this time--and would guess salts can build up quickly in small breathable containers. Decided to flush twice--once at four weeks and again at mid-flowering.

Will report any problems. First one tonight.

Cheers

That is an interesting point you make Smithiano re pk13/14. I have a fast and vast going now and I started it at 5 weeks of life, not flower, which i think is what canna means. It will hopefully give me 3.5 to 4 weeks of growth after, so 10 weeks approx. The way i looked at the pk was that it needs at least 3weeks after finishing use, 4 is better imo:Nope:. This means you should be able to get the benefits and still have time for a flush. If you have grown a strain before and know how long it takes, you should be able to work backwards pretty easily.

I got the boost because everything else i got was canna nutes, you can use canna bio boost, which is cheaper, but you also only use 20 mls for 10 litres water, normal boost you use 40 mls for 10 litres of water

Good deal kylie. You are on to something with the PK timing. I will tinker with it because I have four plants in one tent and two in another I germed as backups.

The Canna Boost is worth the money according to most reviews. My last visit to hydro store they only had the big one which is big $.

Canna Bio boost--sounds good.

Cheers

BTY--the flush went well. Plants look relaxed today and temp appears better. Added ice to water to cool it down towards low 70's. Something to consider when ambient temp is high. Rosenthal says to off set temps with water temp. So, if chilly root zone/grow environment then water a bit higher temp.

Hey Blue thanks for the tips, I've read em about 10 times now lol. I just saw that it's okay to use plain water the last week of harvest.. but how do you use cannazym at the same time while trying to flush??

Hey Jayar :) Glad the tips have been useful!!

It was a while since i wrote this (all still good and current). I don't use cannazym when flushing (final cleansing), just the good ole' H2O ^_^ (i ph it to 6.2 ... I'm not 100% sure that it's necessary - my thought is that it will allow the plant to take up any left over nutrients in the coco until there are none left and it's just eating itself)

Hope this helps
All the best

Blue ^_^

Thanks blue it did help. It was actually your old black cream grow that inspired me to try em out and here I am on the last stretch.. crazy how time flies when you're having fun lol

High there!

I'm using FoxFarm's (Bushdoctor) Coco Loco potting mix. Some things about this I noticed:

- Coco coir base is heavily amended (with mostly great stuff, bird guano, bat guano, kelp etc.)
- It is also AMENDED WITH PEAT MOSS, FF saw fit to blend coco and conventional peat, forest humus, perlite, and vermiculite.
- Mycho... Mych... the good fungus. It has it.
- Gentle enough to grow germed seeds or rooted clones.
- Amended enough to feed for the first 2 or 3 weeks.
- It DOES lose volume over time. That loss is mitigated by the coir. About half as much as Pro-Mix, maybe even less.
- It is amended with pH and calcium buffers. I'm not taking any chances and feed .5tsp/gal of Earth Juice Elements Cal-n-Mag with every feeding.
- It behaves like everything else that I've read about Coco and I pH what I feed to 5.8 (FoxFarm Grow Big Hydro, Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom)
- Up to mid grow I can feed or water to 10% runoff every 3 days (to give you an idea how quickly it dries). According to what I've been reading in this forum, however, I believe feeding once to run-off per week (to take care of buildups) with multiple frequent smaller feedings throughout the rest of the week might give more hydro-like results!
- I see a 50-100% increase in plant to pot size vs. Pro-Mix and way more vigorous root growth. That's without the aggressive micro-feeds I just mentioned.
- I think it could use more perlite and/or vermiculite for autos. I added 1/3 Miracle Gro perlite to 2/3 Coco Loco once (didn't like that the perlite had nutes but it was the only kind I could get at the time), and the plants loved it. Didn't even burn babies but that may have been dumb luck.

My conclusion is that FoxFarm has done most of the work for you and with minimal tweaking Coco Loco is a respectable medium. By all means mix your own, find your sweet spot, but if you have limited time and space like me, this is a good alternative that should be compatible with most other coco advice here. I've completely switched to planting anything for flowering in Coco Loco. I still dig into that white and orange Pro-Mix cube to plant mothers that will stay in veg for a long time (because it's just bomb-proof).

***correction*** Retraction

In many of my comments about Canna bagged coco have stated--Canna Coco recommends 5.5 ph pre-watering to prep for growing.

Have found Canna Coco is pre-buffered and will see below advised straight to coco. I never had big issues with pre-watering.

Originally, obtained my info. on one of Canna Coco's sites (Dutch, UK or Aussie).

The deal with Canna Coco is that one has to read between the lines to discover what they--really recommend for cannabis growing. Below seems more cannabis specific. Interesting recommendation on PK use.
In general, I have followed the general Canna Coco guidelines.

This is the USA--Q & A guide:

Cheers Gcase! The Canna USA site is the best of them all!

If you sign up, you can also get to their info pages which are more in depth and revealing.
I don't typically pre water Canna Coco Pro Plus.

As you know .. I'm not the best coco grower here lol - Just the laziest! ^_^
