Calling out bad Autoflower genetics/actors

Yeah everything is inbred with skunk chem og sour cookies and all those strains are already inbred. These strains in many ways are better because they are more potent but the problem is we are gonna lose the original stuff to breed new things out or get new flavors we need a more diverse genepool. Even in the landrace countries strains are being watered down with Western genetics because a farmer wants to grow the best for their clients. Landrace can be all over the place. High thc high CBD mix this flavor that flavor. People today care about bag appeal so the dense ones are selected. Also the early flowering one. @Autofire

I imagine that it's because these are the original strains from nature

In my view, "landraces" are not necessarily the original "natural" cannabis plant. From what I've read, cultivars like Panama Red, Acapulco Gold, Thai stick, Afghani, etc. are more likely decedents of plants that originally escaped cultivation hundreds of years ago and have even changed "naturally" and significantly since then. The Spanish first cultivated hemp in S. America in the early 1600's IIRC.

"Landrace plants are grown from seeds which have not been systematically selected and marketed by seed companies, nor developed by plant breeders."
This definition makes sense.

I grew some FB's and wasn't impressed---HOWEVER----I was a brandy new grower with a head full of bad interweb "info" and didn't have a clue what I was doing. I can't/don't blame them for my shortcomings and will give them another at some time.

Fast Buds (or rather World Agro Trade SL) keeps coming back in discussions, but I don't consider them a 'bad autoflower genetics actor' by any means. Their seeds (for me) grow comparably well as other well-respected sources. As far as their 'genetics' go, they seem good to me, with my results actually resembling the marketing descriptions and hype, as much 'genetics' as I can expect from autos.

Rather, I think their lack of transparency about a lot of things, being non-communicative/responsive to community concerns, and being a virtual and apparently widely disseminated/decentralized company combine to make them suspect. For example, looking at the FB Web site "About" page, I don't see anything at all about the company. This includes it's business (developing and manufacturing seeds never mentioned), what they do/how they do business (are they a cooperative of vetted breeders, simply a buyer/reseller, actually do breeding themselves?); headquarters (have a physical/actual office?); who's in charge; owners/founders; how and where are field and quality control testing done (or do they even have any of this?); etc. [Otherwise, Egor Prilukov, seemingly a Russian citizen, appears to be the owner/founder/CEO].

I think they are first-rate. I follow them on IG and they do have a little more info. This morning they showed some new plants they are working on.

Fast Buds (or rather World Agro Trade SL)

Just a note about the World Agro company name, the extreme majority of cannabis companies do business under a DBA because of scrutiny from the law and banking. Most banks/merchants/processors won't touch you if they think you're involved in cannabis.

Hey there, any that you can recommend for a new grower? Cheers!
Their Blackberry was a standout for me. It's dark purple almost black in appearance and actually tastes and smells like sweet blackberry gummies. It's the kind of weed that has people raving and knocking down your door just to get a look at it.

Landraces are not wild strains, but are cultivars that have been grown in a specific area for many generations, almost always open pollinated. which kept natural selection at work within the given population. The Mazar i Sharif I'm growing for instance has been grown the same way on the same land for 700 years. Yes, these populations are disappearing because of the influx of modern genetics. That's why companies like The Real Seed company strive to keep these genetics alive.
