Calling out bad Autoflower genetics/actors

Thinking ahead into the future, say 5 years, will there be a place for the small-time, including individual, breeder-types that many members revere so highly? Or lacking support, infrastructure, technical expertise, proper equipment, field testing and other facility approvals/permits, etc. will they become more seen as "bad actors?" Will breeders not routinely performing genetic and/or chemical (cannabinoid, terpene) analyses to guide selection of seeds for crossing simply fall behind and lose out to those more rationally/systematically creating new strains and performing actual quantitative-based quality control?

I think that the mad rush to capitalize on Cannabis " breeding" is leading the the ultimately mediocre weed. Genetics are becoming so homogenized the gene pool is being destroyed. Then you have commercial ops that just want to breed a strain that's fast and prolific and create a product to shovel down the consumer gullet..... Thus why my interest is moving to landrace and wild genetics, and a few old school strains.People don't know what they're missing! Yes I still like some of the new school genetics, but it's become pollen chucker's paradise! No? HOW many "breeders" can you find on IG, etc? A few hundred? More?

A problem with landraces is that few still exist, most have been hybridized or just lost. If anyone has this breeding stock, it's likely the longest-established seed companies, such as Dutch Passion, Dinafem, Sweet, Royal Queen, etc., that have presumably been collecting seeds worldwide for decades. Where would a relative newcomer Spanish, CA or any other breeder ever be able to get hold of 'genuine' say Panama Red, Acapulco Gold, Oaxacan, Lamb's Bread, Thai Sticks, etc. breeding stock?

Actually there are a couple organization now that gather and preserve landrace strains and provide seed for those interested in growing them. Sadly, yes, it's far from what was once available but there is still a fair amount that can be found. I'm currently growing a landrace Mazar i Sharif and I'm looking at some Indian strains.

Here's a very interesting seedbank:

I'm fairly new to the whole breeding and strain thing. Been smoking since the 90's but we never had names for strains or anything like that. So coming back to it now in my later years has been a big learning curve and a very interesting ride.

I'm still not clued in on this land race thing. Why are these strains sought after? I imagine that it's because these are the original strains from nature. Land race meaning they originated from land right? And everybody wants them because they are the bones that every other strain had been created from so if you got a good set of bones you can create something special.

Is that kind of what we are talking about?

It's hard to rewrite this any better, so a Wiki copy and paste will do the trick:

"Landrace plants are grown from seeds which have not been systematically selected and marketed by seed companies, nor developed by plant breeders."
