That’s the same approach I took.I'm just gonna clone some autos. Reverse some and chuck pollen on the others. Then grow what I create and keep what I like and give away what I dont like to friends. The start of my breeding project. If any of the f1s come out with one good pheno and plant to work with from there I'll work with that line to be my basis to breed from. But first its just chucking pollen til I find something that is extraordinary to witk with and breed past f1.
First I grew the strains several times to have a good idea of what phenos that it held.
Next I waited on the perfect combination of phenos that I was looking for. This was done in accordance to size, growth rate, terpene profile, resilience, and ease to grow.
Also I picked plants that thrived in my growing conditions and appears healthier than the others.
Bud size was a factor. The taste, and what the high was like, or how long the high lasted. These factors were selected in accordance to my personal preference.
When I got the results that was after, I only bred from that line. However I continued to used the same selection criteria as I continued to develop my line into my Nympho strain.
What I learned from it all? I learned how different every plant can be even though they all look the same. How they all smell similar and have different undertones.
Also, sometime the top will smell different from the bottom.
Recently I harvested one, that every bud smelled differently. Grapes, bubblegum, lemon, oranges, gas, chem, buttercream, vanilla candy, and apples were all displayed on one plant. So terpene isolation is a non factor. Thus the reason for cloning.
Growing cannabis is an significant time investment. Money invested in a grow is secondary when compared to the value of time.
Therefore when I grow a strain, I prefer for it to be well worth the time that I have to invest in it.
The stoner in me tend to over complicate things. Enjoy ya’ll.
