I agree with RR, it is a combination of tools.
I will add that everyone's cannabis chemistry is different as are the causes of their pain.
When I started using cannabis medically, I started a strain journal. I rated strains of pain relief, inflammation, sensations, and psychotropics. Doing this allowed me, over time, to learn what works for me. Look at lineage, too. I hope its OK to mention the leafly site here...
That being said, for me strains with med-high THC and med-high CBD work best. I am new to auto's so I cant speak to that, but in general strains like Hashplant with 14Thc/4Cbd. The best relief was annihilator Kush with 17/7! but warning, these two are heavy.
The 1/1 strains like Pennywise do the trick if I need to be relatively sober. There are new CBD autos I may try growing.
Jack Herer works when I need pain relief with motivation, but I don't know of its CBD value. There are auto versions of that around, too.
