Sweet bro, got a link to where ya got it? Your new AC is digital thermostat? No problem running it with that? Ya, I think a thermostat like this with the probe you can hang at canopy level would do a much better job, then the built in thermostat on the AC.

yep http://www.urbansunshine.com/sentinel-cool-1-cooling-thermostat anything over hundred bucks and under 50 pounds ships free and great prices yes it is and no problems runs better now and cheaper on electric my a/c runs half the time now. It does do a better job IMHO, The thermostat probe on my a/c is not detachable and is not accurate where I need It which is the canopy.

That's exactly my thinking as well, and my AC isn't even inside the grow space. If i can keep a precise temperature right at plant canopy, the outside room don't matter. I can see this cutting back AC usage as well.
