Balls or no balls?

@LabRat Yes!! It's going to be the paper bag method. Went to the baker this morning and got myself a couple of extra large bread bags. Went to the florist, got my wife a bouquet of flowers (yes score!!) and now I also have a complete sheath of cellophane from which I can make the windows.
:pimp:I love it when a plan comes together :pimp:

I made the bags today and placed them over the branches which showed male flowers. The other branches got one final spray with STS...

I do occasionally come up with a good idea. :)

I have plans to be doing quite a few strains with STS so will likely be doing that myself this winter. We have a friend who works at the deli counter at a supermarket so I'm going to see if she can't get me some of those windowed bags they put French bread in. I already got a bunch of paper bags from the liquor store that I use to slo-dry my buds in. They're almost 6" wide and 14" long and I double them up to slow down the evaporation rate so I can sometimes go 4 weeks before the buds are dry enough to put in cans and burp for another month before dry enough to smoke.

Where did you get the cellophane from? I could use some of that to roll out some nice hash from dry sift and make my own windows.

Yes you do. And you've already helped me out a lot!

I got the cellophane from de florist. Actually it's a garden supply store. When you buy flowers you can wrap them up yourself at a stand near the exit. I just took an extra piece for 'experimentation' :D

Ah...Frenchy style. Ou lalaaa... :jointman:

Nothing like a 5-finger discount to make a good day. lol I think there is someone doing floral in town so will drop by and see if I can pick some up there. I won't mind paying for it if I can get it.

it was actually a French guy doing the video I watched for an hour explaining how to roll out the kief so it becomes a ball of good old Turkish style hash. I've been making something like it using 1g of honey oil to 4-5g of dry sift. Almost like the gummy Turkish hash we could get back in the late 70s.

Needs to age for 3 months or more wrapped in . . . you guessed it . . . cellophane. :)

I ended up adding 10 more grams of keif to that ball to get it where I wanted it.

This a 28g of my first go at making this stuff.

Just mix it up in a pyrex pie plate on top of a simmering pot of water.

That's some nice hash you have there. This has always been my favorite...

Was it this guy... Frenchy Cannoli

He's kinda my hero... Learned so much from his video's on youtube making Bubble Hash
Last season I got a 57gr ball of super soft which needed to be stored in de freezer. The fridge wasn't cold enough to let the ball keep it's shape...
Squeezing rosin out of this was super simple and only needed 50°C. What remained in the rosin bags was still very tasty. Win-win ;)

Yeah, that's the dude. I just watched the one where he works some kief by hand then rolls it out between cellophane sheets using a bottle full of hot water. Then he seals it up in cellophane to age for 3 months. I could do that just fine. I have about 200g of kief and 10L of sugar/popcorn sealed up in the freezer. A pound of hash stashed away would be nice.

I tried a little rosin pressing using the wife's iron plugged into my variac to control the temp. I have a decent multimeter with a temp probe so I can dial it in just right. I used just a tsp of kief and didn't get much resin but the cooked kief just knocks me out with a tiny bit in the pipe. Thinking of getting into this rosin thing a bit more or just turn everything into hash. The little bit of very dark resin I did get really kicks my ass.

50C seems really low for pressing. I tried 95C first then went up to 122c/250F before I got any resin at all. At that temp with a 5 min squeeze it should have decarbed the kief pretty good too so I could just eat it.

Hey Bud,

I swear. 50°C, one hear straightener and a clamp was all to get all the goodness out...Oh, and it didn't take 5min :p

A small update on the balls making front. All strains except the Cheese XXL made balls and are bagged to recover the pollen.
Now the wait for the golden dust begins...:coffee:

Had one hell of a day today... Discovered that one of my hydro lines crashed down to the ground taking a couple side branches from the Cheese and the masculine branch of the Zkittlez with it. All the plants, peppers mainly had to be trashed as there was no lifting the whole NFT tube with ten large plants in it... Kinda bummed out right now, still...:deadhorse:
On the positive side of this horror story, I got a taste from the Cheese which was...well cheesie...Strange but familiar smell which reminds me of weed from the old days. The rest of the branches are drying and stinking up the whole house. Got to do something about that tomorrow as my wife isn't happy at all.
The male branch was put into a vase with some water and an aluminum foil plate beneath it to catch the pollen when it's released.

Regards,

Bob
