Mephisto Genetics Autotron does Mephisto Sour Crack & Sour Hound - Kindsoil, 200-1000W MH/HPS

Here are a couple pics from today of the older Sour Crack after I removed four fan leaves from the top of the plant. I really want to take those two at the top down also, but I'm going to wait a few days to let the plant recover from any potential stress. They aren't seriously blocking anything yet, but they will be soon. You can see some pretty accelerated bud growth towards the center for her age of 32 days.

I had some loose patio/paver stones lying around the yard, so I put a bunch of them in my tent to keep all my plants at different heights and stages at the same level so that they're all soaking up the maximum amount of rays. I also swapped out my M/H bulb for the HPS bulb. Got it running at 400w, 14 inches from the top and my lux meter says it's putting out close to 50K lumens at the top of the canopy. I don't know if it's even worth it using a M/H bulb. You get less efficiency and more heat for the same cost. I'm not sure I'm convinced that there's tangible benefits to using it during veg. Autos stay fairly short for the most part anyways.

A week later and all is looking well with this grow. Everyone is progressing nicely. The oldest Sour Crack is 42 days old now and it's hard to imagine it finishing in 65 days, but we'll see. They weren't joking when they said Sour Crack stays small. It's in a 3 gallon pot and I don't think it's even 12 inches tall. This would definitely be a SOG machine to be reckoned with. If I were out to maximize yield in a short period of time, I would put 16-25 of these in 1-2 gallon pots in my 4x4 and max it out.

Everyone got a "haircut" this weekend. I feel like they responded really well to the defoliation. The Sour Crack was so dense with leaves it was unbelievable. The Sour Hound is nice and bushy with a lot of tops and is starting to kick into flowering mode full force. Just an amazing compact and efficient structure to this plant.

I may have overwatered a bit earlier this week. That apparently is a big no-no when using a super soil. Didn't realize I was getting a bunch of runoff, so had to hold off from watering for about five days. I notice a bit of rust on the leaves that started right around this time, so I'm hoping the overwatering was the reason and not something else like cal-mag deficiency. I'm keeping my eye on it for now. I've been sticking with watering with a bit of kelp and Great White, but if the rust progresses and it looks like a cal-mag problem, I'll be ready to throw in a bit of GO Cal-Mag. I'd rather just let the Kindsoil do it's thing though. I'm considering buying some Mammoth P to help boost flowering a bit. The stuff looks amazing, but damn is it expensive!

slightly late weekly update here...

I'm mainly focused on my two oldest(Sour Crack and Sour Hound) at the moment, they're about 53 days each. A bit tired at the moment, so I'll just throw up some pics. To recap, these are in 3 gallon smart pots with 2.5 pounds of Kindsoil in each one. I water them with about a tablespoon per gallon of kelp and and the recommended amount of Great White per watering, nothing else. I'm seeing what looks like nutrient deficiencies or something on my two oldest. The Sour Crack I'm not concerned about because it's got less than two weeks in it, but I'm surprised by the Sour Hound. She's still got a ways to go. It may just be nothing, but I'm curious if you guys think otherwise based on the pics. Cheers!

This oldest Sour Crack is such a squat little beast. It's a very special type of plant. Ideal for a SOG or quick discreet run. Of course, you get lower yields, but I grow solely for my personal stash and aim for quality, so I'm not worried. The Sour Crack in the pics is only about 9 inches tall. It is carrying a lot of bud though, and I'm surprised by how great far ahead it is compared to the Sour Hound, which sprouted at the same time.

I personally prefer medium-sized plants, but I'm quite intrigued by the characteristics of Sour Crack. It has a great niche in any tent or grow, I think. Run a tent full of them(pricey for seeds though) or throw one in a small pot almost as an afterthought with a run. It's like a little Bonsai tree.

I bought 60ml of Mammoth P for $17 from my local hydro store too, so I plan on hitting them with some of that tomorrow or the following day with their next watering, when they're ready. That shit is pricey! I glad I was able to get a small amount on the cheap though.

Things have been progressing smoothly since my last post except for some minor issues with some fan leaves yellowing and rusting from the tips and sides down to the base. It didn't seem to start from the bottom, and seemed to hit a lot of the fan leaves that get direct light, so I think it may have been a cal-mag deficiency with the KindSoil. It didn't seem to fit the description of a nitrogen deficiency. Needless to say, they all got a healthy dose of General Organics Cal-Mag+ for the last week or two. Take a look at some of the more close-up pics below and let me know what you think. I've only been giving these guys water ph'ed to 6.5 with Citric Acid crystals and a little bit of kelp, Great White, Big Bloom, Recharge or Mammoth P from time to time to keep the life going in the soil.

Aside from this minor setback, everyone has been growing well. The FastBuds Blackberry is getting really tall compared to the others and is showing off her purple flowers. The buds definitely seem smaller with this Kindsoil compared to synthetic nutes, but I think that's a rule for the most part with organic gardening unless you're some sort of guru, right? Doesn't matter to me. I am growing solely for quality and personal use, so if it tastes and smells better and looks great, that's all I care about. I started adding Mammoth P with each watering a week or two ago in the hopes that it can boost flower size for these plants. Two of them sprouted 6/25, Two more on 7/5 and the remaining two on 7/21, so they're all in different stages. I love not having to worry about different nutes for different plants with this Kindsoil though. This kind of gardening combined with the fact that autos don't need 12/12 makes a perpetual grow in one tent so easy. I'm planning on dropping a DP Euforia, DP Durban Poison and a HSO UK Cheese in the next week or so, so they will be ready to take the space as I take down the oldest ones.

The Sour Crack is coming real close to being ready. She's at 65 days old now, and I took a video of the trichomes with my microscope camera. No amber yet, but it's almost all cloudy. My guess is another week or so until I get 25% amber. Any guesses from you guys? You can see some of the rusting leaves in this pic btw.

Hey @Waira any thoughts on these yellow rust leaves?

I was checking the trichomes on my 75 day old Sour Crack today and I realized that virtually the whole main cola had bud rot! I was super bummed to say the least. I'm guessing 1/2 - 1/3 of the total yield from that one is down the tube. Major bummer. Needless to say, I'm going to be taking that one down tonight. I threw an extra fan in the tent to get more air circulating in there to hopefully save my other plants from the same fate.

This fucker is only about 9-12 inches tall and was never going to be a big producer, but I was hoping for some quick quality meds. It grew and developed fast up until this point.

When I looked at the trichomes all over the plant, I still didn't see any amber trichomes. The plant had finished growing and all the pistils were brown a couple weeks ago, by day 60 or so, so I'm surprised that none of the trichomes turned amber between then and now. They've basically all been cloudy this whole time. And here I was waiting patiently for amber, when I should have taken it down a week or two ago before the botrytis set in. Do you guys have this problem as well where it takes forever to see amber? Is this something specific to organic growing? This seems to be a common problem for me.

@Eyes on Fire what do you think?
