New Grower Auto Ultimate - 600W LED / Soil - High Temp

Should I defoliate all the fan leaves close to the bottom of the pot that i have been tucking below the canopy? There are at least 10 or so down there that kind of just droop over the edge of the pot. Not much experience with defoliation...

I personally wouldn't try the defoliation process... Myself I never defoliate I just tuck big fan leaves under when necessary! Actually the plant will defoliate itself when it's approaching the end of its life by turning yellow... Its only then when i start to pluck lol

So I have to go out of town for 5 or 6 days in 2 weeks. I do not have a reliable plant sitter at the moment so I decided to try out an automatic watering system. After researching for a good bit I decided to go with Blumats. I like the idea of no electrical parts to fail and it seems that once you get it dialed in and set up it is very reliable. I would like to thank @Ozone69 for the very useful information he had in his thread regarding the Blumats. Very easy to understand and honestly I was in a panic about them drying out or flooding, until I seen his thread.

The Blumats and reservoir just arrived today. I got a the starter kit with only 5 carrots. Hopefully after playing around with these new toys I can get it dialed in within a few days. Hope I do not muck it up too bad lol.

Day 45ish update

Been a bit busy so I haven't been updating as much as I want. Just got back from my trip and the Blumats seem to have done an amazing job. This plants bud sites have literally exploded in the past 7 days. I am really surprised at the bud growth because the plant was only receiving ph'd water via the Blumats while I was out of town for almost 8 days. I guess the Ocean Forest had enough nutrients to see her through. I honestly thought the Ultimate would be dead when I returned due to lack of water or nutes.

She is definitely looking hungry though with her many yellowing leaves. I hit her with a heavy feed of Tiger Bloom, Cal-Mag, and Bud Candy. I know most auto ultimates go 100+ days but this girl will finish well before that. Maybe the small pot or something else I did caused her to flower a bit early lol. I will probably start her on over drive soon at a light dose and gradually work up.

I mostly got the results I wanted from the LST. Managed to get about 10 different smaller colas from the side branches while still maintaining a large main cola. This strain has taken a beating from me and is still preforming decent. Could not be happier.

Just throwing some pics up for me to reflect back on. The colas are swelling quickly. A few pistils are already starting to amber. I will take a peek at the trichome heads tonight with the scope. I am sure she still needs a little more time before flush, the calyxs' have not started really swelling and retracting the pistils back in yet. I did hit her with a small dose of overdrive.

That is the whorled plant beside the big girl. The smaller one is around day 25 I believe. She is still holding her whorled tri-foliate pattern! I will get some better pics of her and her unique branching structure in a future update. But she looks like she has been topped below the 2nd node lol. I am not doing any training at all on her. She shouldn't get too big in the 3 gallon pot. The first auto ultimate came to just the right size for me. Do not want her going 100+ days and getting 4+ feet lol. No time or room and I have a lot of Mephisto genetics I have to get busy on growing!

I have discovered that if you cram an auto ultimate into a 3 gallon pot, the result is a plant that is 90% bud and 10% stem lol. :smoking:

I keep checking the thick main cola for any early signs of bud rot. Looking good so far. I am keeping the small fan in the tent aimed directly at the large cola for the majority of the day.

I took a good look at the trichomes and so far its about 80% clear 20% cloudy on most of the upper parts of the colas. She still has some life ahead of her. Think I will chop around 10-20% amber ideally.

Happy growing

Looks like this grow is turning out to be a success! How's the RH...?

Thanks for the kind words! :pass:

The grow has been going well so far. Dutch Passion has bred this plant to be able to take a beating. RH has been between 45% - 50% lately. I have the in line fan running at about 60% speed to create some negative pressure in the tent. It helps keep the RH lower than it was during veg and plenty of air movement.

Those are some good RH numbers... I'm having a tough time keeping my RH in check on my current grow! Especially when the fans kick off I may have to leave them on 24/7... I'm doing a Gorilla Glue Auto and What supposed to be an Auto Ultra Power Plant but has turned out to be a freakin photoperiod! Iol its huge! so i have an Auto and a Photo in the same space! I turned back lights on a12/12 over a week ago. The Auto doesn't seem to mind. The end results is going to be interesting
