Auto topping thread, pushing the auto limits;)

Good day growers im a master photo and auto grower.but my passion is with autoflower seeds.i been on a mission for 5 years growing now trying diffrent methods of training on autos to see what they truly behold.truth is autos aint no diffrent to a normal plant other than they flower on there own.u can top lst supercrop and defol autos with monster results if done at the correct time.oviously every plant is diffrent so always use the seed info as a rough guide;) and a short plant can yield just as much as a tall plant;) in this thread i will show u all along the way of the true limits of autos and there true potential as i grow them for u all to see;).also if ur an auto grower who likes to push the limits,do speak up and all pics of ur autos and talk and all questions welcome on pushing the auto limits.here a few examples of the results achived topping an auto young followed by later lst.few heavy defols along the way ,gives u an army of dominant colas and a big heavy yield.and a beautiful plant.here is automazar topped and lstd;)

Make sure your bottom 2 branches/nodes are strong ones m8.. if not I would take them off and top above the 5th set of nodes so u have 8 good strong mains.. I found that my 5th set of nodes/branches was always a lot stronger than my 1st set.. just a tip
Ok thanks I just went and took the branches off they weren't strong looking....

Looks really great and it makes so much sense indoors where you can control every part of the environment. Outdoors in viking land I find that topping the faster autos doesn't make a big difference in yield even if done right, but it can introduce a risk of stunting the plants a bit if the weather + timing is against you, that's why I try not to. Some LST and tying down the main stalk works fine if it's a matter of keeping things discrete.
Just my experience growing under not very optimal conditions, ymmv etc.
Well if the environment goes out of bounds not can be done.

@hope2grow I agree with the idea of the 5th node on autos you know to be 85 plus day strains. The problem I have encountered if you hit some fast ones they will not meet there potential as they don't recover as well from the topping.

thanks again for the info. i'm growing one which is supposed to be finished between 70-80 days and two which should be after about 60-70 days. I thought, that outdoors it would probably take the upper limit, but didn't think would take a couple of weeks more. I will wait to see how the weather is going to be, if I top the slower plant. So far it's been mainly around 20-22° C. Not too warm and not too much sun. But will definitely try LST for the first time.

new grower here just topped my auto at the 3rd node thought it was the 4th, so with it being my first run will that still be fine as she took it will no side effects but another newbie lesson learned topped day 21

You'll be fine. Just be extra gentle if you LST so you don't break any branches.

Thanks for that my friend, so she be fine thats good to know thought id topped to much, so will do some light LST to just spread her out abit,

As already mentioned, it really will make no difference might in fact be a blessing in disguise because now you have forced yourself to gain some direct knowledge that you would not otherwise have undertaken. I cut two of the three in this one pot grow at the 2nd node as I knew it would get crowded. Autos are incredibly resilient, I know not whence all the mythology has arisen about them being delicate little snowflakes that are so pallid in complexion and frail in both physical attributes and the mental fortitude to weather even a few plucked leaves.
