anyone dealing with unusual heat?

Hobson's choice. Man that's hot.
"...the serenity to accept the things I cannot change..." That's approximately where I'm at. I think maybe I've done everything I can, and at this point I kind of have to let go and whatever happens, happens.

Damn..that is hot

Just like always..ma nature does what she wants..we can try to roll with the punches but sometimes there is only so much you can do

We have been lucky has been in the seventies here in the Chicago area. Lots of rain lately to break the drought. Not that great plants at day 50 outdoor budding up and suppose to rain every day for a week. I guess it is better than 114. Good luck!

Today got up to around 104º, and maybe 110º in the hoop house. The next two days could be 10º hotter. One local network meteorologist said this heat bubble was a once in a thousand year event. I hope he's right. Tomorrow it's predicted to be over 100º from 11am to 9pm. That's a long run. I'm sure that's normal for a lot of the world, but not here, not even close.

With our berries that were near ready -- raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, mulberries -- some are turning on the plants or ripening too quickly and having an off flavor. Luckily we're not making a living from them or counting on them for our next meal, it's just a hobby thing to have an edible landscape.

That said, so far the cannabis looks really good. I have no idea if the heat is changing aspects or characteristics about the way they are growing or maturing, but they are all starting to flower and in this heat, already starting to get that early funk going. We'll see how they make it through the next days.

Up in Maine we are having our second straight summer of drought.
It's been warm but not as bad as what you guys are dealing with in the PNW!
It seems like it's either drought or flood right now, but I suppose that could just be the weather that makes the news.

There seems to be some connection between Oregon and Maine. We're on the same latitude, but have completely different climates. I don't know many people at all, but I've known one and met one who moved from here to there -- Portland to Portland transplant. I grew up in the NE, I don't think they really knew how big a change that would be.

Yeah, I know Oregon has some different microclimates throughout the state. It's my understanding that southern Oregon is alot like Cali. Certainly nothing like that out here! We definitely get a ton more snow than you guys also.

But further northwest the climate during the growing season is more similar. We both share the same latitude and consistently wet and humid weather.

I've actually been starting to look into popular Oregon strains to breed with Autos for increased mold resistance. Most of these popular modern indoor and cali strains can't stand up to that kind of weather!

Please let us know what you find out - I would be interested to know.

I think Seattle might be a little closer Maine in terms of wet and humid. The Willamette Valley, which stretches from Portland south past Salem to Eugene and runs between the Coastal and Cascade ranges, is quite a bit less humid than at least CT was when I was growing up there. CT and this part of OR get about the same annual rainfall, but here from about 6/15 to 9/15 we get almost no rain at all, and from 10/15 to 5/15, it can be overcast and rainy the vast majority of the time. It's not black and white, but that's the general pattern, or at least has been. Back in CT it rained (or snowed etc.) off and on year round.

Our somewhat shorter but predominantly dry and sunny summer's can be perfect for autos outdoors.

That is, depending on how they make through this "historic" heat wave. When I woke up this morning at 5:30am, it was 90º outside. They're calling for it to top out around 115º. It's going to be a long day.
