You know air stones are a necessity in hydro, And are a part of hempy buckets...
But what would happen if you were to use them in a non-hydro grow?
We're going to find out.
Before my Northern Lights germed, I put a 10" airstone 1/2 way down a five gallon bucket, and one as close to the bottom as I could.

And since my NL should have roots far enough down to reach the top airstone, I turned the air pump on after her feeding last night.
Before feeding, and air:

And as of ten minutes ago this morning:

So far It's too early to see results, other than she's a little perkier than she normally is after her feed.
More pics to come this evening, and tomorrow, annnd every other day until she's ready for harvest.

Hey, thanks.
I'm actually curious to see what'll happen, too.
This version of NL isn't listed as a huge yielder... I think they said you can get up to 500g/m2 indoors.

If anyone's curious about feed and lighting, she's getting Megacrop, Cal-mag, and Silica, and is under a total of 550 watts of LED/Cob lighting...(550 watts wall draw. Blurple is listed as a "1000 watt", and cob is listed as a "1800 watt".)
She gets fed when her pot gets light, or I can poke my fingers into the coco up to my 3rd knuckle and feel she's dry. May have to go with the second option since I'm pumping air into the pot, though.

Do not think you need the silica with megacrop. However the more you water the more nutes will be available. And quicker growth.

You are going to dry your roots too quickly and you will have to pay more attention to your plants for very little gain. What temp is the air going in? Warm enough to dry clothes probably.

i may be wrong im just thinking it through.

It's a "just in case" dose...Same with the cal-mag. Both are 1/2 the strength of the rec dose.
I actually noticed a couple "rust" spots starting on one of my gorilla glues that was fed nothing but M.C, So I give the all of my girls Cal-Mag with it. They quit appearing after I did.

That's why it's an experiment in a journal... So others that get curious about it can see what happens.

The air is actually pretty cool as it comes out of the pump.
My first thought was that my plant would drown or have ph problems that popped up from keeping the coco too wet.

...i like paying attention to my plants. It gets me out of the house and away from my kids. Although my wife makes fun of me for talking to my plants...

You do have drain holes In that container right? Or is it a hempy style?

Yeah, the bottom of the 5 gallon bucket has something like 15-20 holes drilled in the bottom.
