FN, Brim-- from what I've learned, B1 itself is not of direct benefit to the plants as far as shock reduction and root stimulation,.. The scientific literature has delved into this quite a bit, and no proof of this has been established,....it seems products in the past had auxins mixed in as well, namely indole butyric acid and naphthylacetic acid (Superthrive used to have this, maybe still does, I heard something about a formulation change dues to new reg's on such auxins,.. NAA is a synthetic version ),.. and this is what was actually doing the root stimulation,.. an old myth from poorly done studies back in the pre WWII era I think,...that it persists so much still is a mystery to me! ... Oh, I think in tissue culture, B1 has beneficial application, but not with actual plants..... Even so, I still recommend root tonics, Superthrive included because of the other goodies they contain,.. we used Superthrive at the orchid nursery all the time to very good effect,.. on hammered imported plants, we add glucose, Si, wetting agent too to try to revive them after the beating they took during travel! .... As for other products like B-52, they also have other ingredients in them that are stimulating and beneficial,.. but straight B1 is a bust! As for other B vit's, like B6, 12, I'm not sure, but i think they are more associated with N metabolism that root stim's,...
