AFN Myth Busters 2017

:jointman: FN, Brim-- from what I've learned, B1 itself is not of direct benefit to the plants as far as shock reduction and root stimulation,.. The scientific literature has delved into this quite a bit, and no proof of this has been established,....it seems products in the past had auxins mixed in as well, namely indole butyric acid and naphthylacetic acid (Superthrive used to have this, maybe still does, I heard something about a formulation change dues to new reg's on such auxins,.. NAA is a synthetic version ),.. and this is what was actually doing the root stimulation,.. an old myth from poorly done studies back in the pre WWII era I think,...that it persists so much still is a mystery to me!... Oh, I think in tissue culture, B1 has beneficial application, but not with actual plants..... Even so, I still recommend root tonics, Superthrive included because of the other goodies they contain,.. we used Superthrive at the orchid nursery all the time to very good effect,.. on hammered imported plants, we add glucose, Si, wetting agent too to try to revive them after the beating they took during travel! :coffee:.... As for other products like B-52, they also have other ingredients in them that are stimulating and beneficial,.. but straight B1 is a bust! As for other B vit's, like B6, 12, I'm not sure, but i think they are more associated with N metabolism that root stim's,...

I would like to add my 2 cents worth into this discussion. However, due to my total lack of understanding of what appears to be the good old English language, I have less than a jar of glue (clue) as what you are on about.

Methinks WWII and B-52 bombers may be an issue regards a successful harvest and also the jazz influenced pop band of the same name may also be a factor. However......

auxins mixed in as well, namely indole butyric acid and naphthylacetic acid ...................eh? Am I back in school chemistry class ?
You guru's amaze me................Love ya chums..........eP.

Thank you That is all I could find was studies done in the 1930's there is no newer evidence that I could see but my man Waira has shed some 21 century light on this it is very appreciated

epenguin you have a high level of understanding the intricacies of the english language and it that is that

I will have to make do with that then. And leave the tech ganga growing to the masters. Shakespeare was forced down me neck from a young age. Forsooth that is why I spaketh in traditional and verily ye olde linguistic prose. Forthwith and notwithstanding, one can witter on for eons asunder without divulging any such snippets of interest to any gregarious dandyman of insurmountable wit or wonder with no remorse for his or her merriment.

I recall one such frivolous but humorous incident in local assizes (court) when one defendant, my good chum Biddy, said when asked if he had anything to say before sentencing ......

"Your Honor, this is a travesty of justice. If I dare utter such a word as justice in this comedy of a trial. Today, was a black day for equality, fairness and humanity in the face of a court that technically represents our Royal Majesty in all that is honest and decent in our Great British judiciary. You sir are an ass and so is the law. I shall say no more before you hold me in contempt. Which is what I most certainly hold you, the law and your ilk"

The judge then asked my chum "Batto" if he had anything to say........................he replied "er....yeah......fuck off ! "

Two sides of the same coin !

That is one cool story my man:pass:

I may not have total recall of the exact words, but in essence, that is really what happened. Biddy was a punk, yet very intelligent and eloquent, and Batto was as thick as a suet pudding, but very loyal and trustworthy. Two good mates from way back ........ wonder where they are now ?

Sorry, I am digressing from the myth busters thread, but I get carried away...............sorry !.............eP.

When you are on here and a man who has seen a few seasons past. Who has a good story any place is a good place to tell it bro.
